Press F5 on a keyboard to cycle Minecraft’s view through first person, third-person rear, and third-person front. On Bedrock with a controller, press Up on the D-pad; you can also select a perspective in Settings. The exact route depends on your input device and whether the usual control has been changed.
Switch views with a keyboard
Press F5 repeatedly until the camera reaches the view you want. The sequence is first person, third-person rear, third-person front, then back to first person. If you want the character visible from behind, stop on third-person rear; for a front-facing view, continue to the next perspective.

Change perspective on Bedrock with a controller or touchscreen
Controller
Press Up on the D-pad to cycle perspectives on Bedrock. Controller schemes can be customized, so if that input does not change the view, choose a perspective in Settings or check the current control scheme. Microsoft lists controller input options in its Bedrock control schemes documentation.
#1 Best Overall
- Minecraft is a game about placing blocks and going on adventures
- Explore randomly generated worlds and build amazing things from the simplest of homes to the grandest of castles
- Play in creative mode with unlimited resources or mine deep into the world in survival mode, crafting weapons and armor to fend off the dangerous mobs
- Play on the go in handheld or tabletop modes
- Includes Super Mario Mash-Up, Natural Texture Pack, Biome Settlers Skin Pack, Battle & Beasts Skin Pack, Campfire Tales Skin Pack; Compatible with Nintendo Switch only
Touchscreen
Open Settings and select the perspective you want. Touch controls and their configuration vary, so there is not one universal on-screen camera button to rely on.
Choose a perspective in Bedrock Settings
Open Settings and use the perspective selector to choose first person, third-person rear, or third-person front. This is a useful alternative when you are playing without a keyboard or when the shortcut has been remapped. Microsoft documents the perspective choices and input methods in its camera system introduction.

If the view does not change
- Try Fn+F5. Some laptops treat function keys as secondary controls, so the Fn key may be needed to send F5.
- Check the binding. Open Options or Settings, then Controls, and look for the perspective-change control. Minecraft controls can be customized; restore defaults if you want the original mapping. The official Minecraft controls guide explains that controls can be changed in the options menu.
- Check for a forced camera in a Bedrock creator world. A
/camera ... setcommand can override the normal view. Microsoft notes that while a forced camera is active, pressing the perspective-change control displays a message instead of switching views. Clear the camera override to return to normal perspective switching; see the camera system documentation.
