To turn on broadcast channels on a Samsung Smart TV, switch the source to TV, connect an antenna to ANT IN, then open Settings > Broadcasting > Auto Program and choose Air. The scan option may be called Auto Tuning on some models, and exact menu labels vary by model, software version, and region.
Before you scan for channels
- Connect an antenna: Plug its coaxial cable into the TV’s ANT IN port. If your TV uses a One Connect Box, connect it to that box’s ANT IN port.
- Use the TV source: Broadcasting settings are for the TV’s tuner, not an HDMI-connected cable or satellite receiver. Change the source to TV or live TV before looking for the scan controls.
- Know what the scan changes: Auto Program can delete or replace the saved channel list. Samsung’s India support guidance cautions against using Auto Program when the TV is connected to a cable or satellite box.
Menu names and availability differ by model, software version, and region. Samsung describes the setup in its US channel-scanning guide, India channel-settings guide, and Gulf channel-setup guide.

How to turn on broadcasting and scan for channels
- Connect the antenna coaxial cable to ANT IN on the TV or One Connect Box.
- Use the remote’s source or input control to select TV or live TV. Do not stay in a Smart Hub app or on the screen for an external receiver.
- Open Settings or All Settings, then select Broadcasting. On some models, the path is Settings > General & Privacy > Broadcasting.
- Select Auto Program or, on some models, Auto Tuning, then choose Start.
- Choose Air for an antenna when that option is shown, and follow the on-screen prompts. Samsung’s US instructions distinguish Air for antenna reception from Cable for cable service.
- When the scan finishes, close the scan screen and check the available channels.
Why is Broadcasting greyed out or missing?
The most common issue is that the TV is not on its tuner input. Samsung says the Broadcasting menu may be unavailable while watching through a cable or satellite box, during a recording, or while using a Smart Hub app.

- Make sure an antenna coaxial cable is connected to ANT IN.
- On relevant models, check that Connected Devices is set to TV.
Then reopen Settings and check for Broadcasting. Samsung India notes that this menu depends on an antenna connection and, on applicable models, the Connected Devices setting.

What if the scan finds no channels or misses some?
First, check that the coaxial cable is firmly connected at both the antenna and ANT IN. If channels are still missing, reception depends on the signal available where the TV is installed. Samsung says an antenna can help the TV find more channels and improve signal quality, but that does not guarantee reception at a particular address or a specific number of channels.

A cable or satellite receiver is normally used as an external input rather than through the TV’s antenna tuner. If you use a receiver, select its input to watch its channels; do not run Auto Program simply to set up that box. Samsung’s India instructions warn that Auto Program can replace the stored channel list and advise against using it with a cable or satellite box.
