The largest microSD card documented in the official product sources cited here is 2TB: SanDisk lists a 2TB Extreme microSDXC UHS-I card. That reaches the SDXC standard’s 2TB limit. SDUC supports capacities up to 128TB, but that is a standard ceiling—not evidence that a 128TB microSD card is commercially available.

What does the largest microSD card mean?

There are two different answers: the largest capacity allowed by a card standard and the largest capacity documented for an actual product. The SD Association’s standards describe what the formats can support; manufacturers determine when cards at those capacities enter the marketplace. The official product sources cited here document a 2TB SanDisk card, not a 128TB product.

Format Capacity range What the figure means
SDXC Over 32GB through 2TB SDXC’s maximum capacity is 2TB. The SD Association specifies exFAT for SDXC. SD Association capacity overview
SDUC Over 2TB through 128TB 128TB is the SDUC standard’s upper limit, not a verified retail product capacity. The SD Association specifies exFAT for SDUC. SD Association capacity overview

These figures are standards specifications; the SD Association does not state a publication year for them on its capacity page. The Association says manufacturers decide when larger cards reach the marketplace. SD Association FAQ

Which 2TB microSD card is documented?

SanDisk’s Extreme microSD UHS-I product page lists capacity up to 2TB, and its data sheet identifies the 2TB option as microSDXC UHS-I. The data sheet is marked ©2024. Together, those official product materials support describing this as a documented 2TB microSD product; they do not establish a complete worldwide inventory of every manufacturer or retailer.

Will a 2TB microSD card work in your device?

Not necessarily. A device must support SDXC and the card’s capacity, and its required speed class depends on what you use it for. Check the exact device’s user manual before buying; the SD Association likewise advises following the device manual for a suitable capacity and speed class. SD Association FAQ

What about speed?

SanDisk advertises up to 240MB/s read and 140MB/s write for the 2TB version. These are conditional manufacturer specifications, not guaranteed real-world results: the data sheet says performance can be lower depending on the host device, interface, usage, and other factors. The advertised read maximum also exceeds the 104MB/s UHS-I standard barrier and depends on compatible equipment. Match the card’s speed class and interface to the device and workload rather than choosing by capacity alone. SanDisk Extreme microSD data sheet

Is a 128TB microSD card available?

The SDUC standard allows capacities up to 128TB, but a standard’s limit does not mean a card at that capacity is on sale. The official product sources cited here document a 2TB card; they do not document a 128TB microSD product. Treat 128TB as the SDUC ceiling, not a purchase option established by these sources.
