If you mean EA’s Origin launcher, it has been replaced by the EA app on supported Windows PCs and Macs. Install or open the EA app and sign in with the same EA Account you used for Origin; EA says your Origin purchases transfer to that account’s library.
Where did Origin go?
Origin was EA’s game launcher and digital distribution platform. Electronic Arts replaced it with the EA app as its primary launcher for supported PC and Mac devices. EA announced the Windows transition in 2022 and the Mac transition in March 2024. This is a change of launcher, not a claim that Origin is a location inside a particular game.
For Windows, EA described the EA app as the replacement for Origin. Its 2022 transition announcement said invited Origin users would find their games and content in the EA app, including previously installed games, with local and cloud saves and friends lists transferring. That was guidance for the migration; it does not guarantee every account will be free of problems. Read EA’s Windows transition announcement.
How to find your Origin games in the EA app
- Install or open the EA app on a supported device.
- Sign in with the same EA Account ID you used for Origin. Using a different account can make your purchases appear to be missing.
- Open your game library and look for your purchased games.
- If a purchase is still missing, contact EA support, as EA directs users to do for missing items.
EA’s current FAQ says Origin purchases automatically transfer when you log in with the same EA Account ID. It also says local and cloud data, achievements, friends, purchases, and other account information carry over. Check EA’s current EA app FAQ for its latest guidance.

Does Origin still work on your computer?
| Device | EA app support listed by EA | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Windows PC | 64-bit PC running Windows 10 or 11 | EA says its app is required for EA games on PC, including games played through Steam or Epic. |
| Mac | macOS Catalina or newer | EA’s March 2024 announcement says players on unsupported macOS devices can continue using Origin. This exception is specific to unsupported Macs and is not a promise of indefinite availability. |
These operating-system requirements are product support details and can change. Check EA’s current FAQ before installing or troubleshooting. EA announced the Mac app as its primary Mac platform on March 26, 2024, while noting that Origin remained available to players with unsupported macOS devices. Read EA’s Mac announcement.
