Take Exhibit Enigma from the Bracer Guild in Grancel, then follow its clues to the clock in General Morgan’s home, the bird fountain, Volume 15 at the Calvard Embassy, and a final fight. Complete it before visiting Grancel Castle: Raider King lists the request as short timeframe and says it expires after that visit.
Accept Exhibit Enigma before visiting Grancel Castle
Go to the Bracer Guild in Grancel and accept Exhibit Enigma. The Nerd Stash says the request is available from the start of the assignment. Raider King associates it with the Threatening Letters Investigation and reports that it expires after you visit Grancel Castle. Since that deadline comes from one third-party guide, check your in-game journal if your version or localization differs, and finish the request before advancing to the castle.
Follow the four clues
-
Inspect the upstairs clock in General Morgan’s home
Enter General Morgan’s home and examine the clock upstairs. The clue points to “the old general’s quarters” and “the observer of time.” If you are wondering where the observer of time is, it is this clock. The Nerd Stash and Selphie1999Gaming both report this location.

Find the fountain topped with a bird and inspect it. The Nerd Stash records the clue as “Seek out the symbol rooted in the Land.”

-
Choose Volume 15 at the Calvard Embassy
Speak with the guard to enter the Calvard Embassy, go upstairs, and select Volume 15 from the bookshelf. This is where to find the clue described as “The third key lies in a foreign edifice. Behold the Blue Knight’s Resolve.” Both walkthroughs identify Volume 15.
-
Head to the final encounter with your party ready
The guides describe this destination differently: The Nerd Stash calls it a locked building on the northeast side, while Selphie1999Gaming identifies it as the arena in the East Block. The descriptions may refer to the same place, but the available accounts do not establish that. Follow the active quest marker rather than guessing if the labels do not match your map.
There is combat at this step, followed by retrieving the stolen item. NookGaming warns that a boss fight is ahead, and Selphie1999Gaming recommends preparing before entering the arena. The guides do not provide enemy names, stats, or a supported party build. Saving before you enter is a sensible precaution, not a documented quest requirement.

Check whether the quest needs a Guild turn-in
After collecting the stolen item, check the active quest log. Selphie1999Gaming says opening the chest completes the quest; The Nerd Stash says to return to the Bracer Guild to turn it in. Because the completion instructions conflict, return to the Guild if the request still appears active in your journal.
