In PowerPoint for Windows, go to File > Options > Advanced and change Maximum number of undos. Microsoft states that Office programs have a default maximum of 100 undo/redo actions. Increasing the limit can use more memory and affect performance.
Change the undo limit in desktop PowerPoint

Open your presentation in the PowerPoint desktop app for Windows.

Select File > Options > Advanced.

Find Maximum number of undos, enter the number of actions you want PowerPoint to retain, and select OK.

Microsoft describes this field as the number of times you can use Undo to reverse presentation changes. See Microsoft’s PowerPoint Options (Advanced) documentation. The exact options available can vary by Office release; use the controls shown in your installed desktop version.

What number should you choose?
Microsoft says the default maximum for Office is 100 undo/redo actions. Choose a higher or lower value based on how far back you need to revisit edits. A larger history uses more RAM and may affect application performance, so avoid increasing it without a practical reason. Microsoft does not specify a universally recommended custom value.
Can you change the limit in PowerPoint for the web?
Microsoft describes undo and redo in the web version as basic and points to desktop versions for advanced options. Its guidance does not say that PowerPoint for the web offers the Maximum number of undos control. To adjust that limit, use desktop PowerPoint for Windows.

Registry alternative: use caution
Microsoft also documents a Windows registry method for changing Office’s undo history. Its example is for Excel 2016: the key is HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice16.0ExcelOptions, with a DWORD named UndoHistory. Microsoft says the same procedure can be used for Word or PowerPoint, but the cited instructions do not print a PowerPoint-specific registry path.

Because the in-app Advanced setting is documented directly for PowerPoint, use it first. Editing the registry incorrectly can cause problems, and registry details may differ across Office releases. If you do use this alternative, follow Microsoft’s Undo, redo, or repeat an action instructions carefully; do not assume the Excel example’s key is a confirmed PowerPoint path.

A larger undo history does not make every action reversible. Microsoft notes that some actions, including saving and selecting commands on the File tab, cannot be undone. You can press Ctrl+Z or select Undo repeatedly for undoable changes; if an action cannot be undone, the Undo command may become unavailable.
