The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 is the newer chip and leads the retrieved AnTuTu 11 comparison, while the Snapdragon 870 remains a capable older platform. The score gap is only a guide: the figures come from unequal numbers of user-submitted tests, not a controlled test of identical phones. For a buying decision, compare the handsets as well as their processors.
How the Snapdragon 870 and 7+ Gen 2 differ
Qualcomm’s official specifications identify different CPU, GPU, modem, and connectivity components for the two platforms. The 870 pairs a Kryo 585 CPU and Adreno 650 GPU with the Snapdragon X55 5G modem and FastConnect 6800. The 7+ Gen 2 uses a Kryo CPU with peak speed up to 2.91 GHz, an Adreno GPU, and an X62 5G modem; Qualcomm specifies a 4 nm process for the newer platform.

NanoReview’s comparison lists an AnTuTu 11 score of 1,010,069 for the Snapdragon 870 and 1,317,007 for the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. The reported aggregate is higher for the 7+ Gen 2, but the source lists 102 submitted tests for the 870 and 52 for the 7+ Gen 2. These unequal, user-submitted samples are indicative rather than a controlled, like-for-like laboratory result.

Scores can vary with the phone’s implementation, software, cooling, and benchmark version. Treat the numbers as one reference point, not a guaranteed result for every phone or a direct prediction of gaming performance.

What Qualcomm claimed at the 7+ Gen 2 launch
In its March 17, 2023 launch announcement, Qualcomm claimed that the 7+ Gen 2 offered up to 50% improved CPU performance, 2x GPU performance, and up to 13% improved system power efficiency. Those are Qualcomm’s launch claims, not independent results from a direct 7+ Gen 2-versus-870 test. They should not be read as a promise that every phone using the newer chip will be twice as fast in games or deliver a particular battery-life improvement.

A processor name alone cannot settle which phone is faster, lasts longer, or offers better value. For example, NanoReview names the Poco F5 as a phone using the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2; that example does not establish the performance, thermals, or battery life of every phone with the chip.
Quick Recap
- Gaming: Look for sustained gaming tests of the exact handset. Cooling and power limits affect performance over time, so a peak specification or short benchmark run is not enough.
- Battery life: Compare reviews of the specific phones under similar conditions. A process-node specification does not by itself determine real-world battery life.
- Connectivity: Check the handset’s supported network bands and regional version. The modem name alone does not confirm compatibility with a carrier or guarantee identical connectivity features across phones.
- Overall value: Weigh software support, display, battery capacity, cooling, condition, and price alongside chipset performance.
