To turn the narrator off in Minecraft, use the setting for your edition: in Java Edition, go to Options > Chat Settings > Narrator and select Off. In Bedrock Edition, open Settings > Accessibility and switch off the UI narration or chat text-to-speech control that matches what is being read aloud.

How to turn off narrator in Minecraft Bedrock
- Open Settings.
- Open Accessibility.
- Turn off the relevant option: UI text-to-speech for menus and interface text, or chat text-to-speech for chat messages.
Bedrock treats menu narration and chat speech as separate controls, so turn off the one that matches the voice you hear. The official help page covers multiple Bedrock platforms; menu wording can vary by platform or language. Minecraft’s Bedrock accessibility help is Portuguese-localized and notes that machine translation may contain errors.

On a keyboard, press Ctrl+B to toggle chat text-to-speech during a Bedrock session. This shortcut is documented for chat speech; it does not necessarily disable menu narration. If speech continues, turn off the corresponding control in Settings > Accessibility.

If Minecraft narration keeps coming back
- Menus are being read aloud in Bedrock: Check UI narration under Settings > Accessibility. If it turns back on when the game starts, check whether your device’s platform screen reader is enabled; Minecraft says an enabled screen reader can automatically enable menu UI narration at startup.
- Chat is being read aloud in Bedrock: Disable chat text-to-speech in Accessibility settings, or use Ctrl+B on a keyboard.
- You hear speech after changing the game setting: Check whether the voice is coming from Minecraft or from your device’s screen reader. The available official instructions do not give a complete diagnosis for every platform.
