Colossus is a core 6v6 map in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, built around three lanes running from Atrium toward the wreckage at sea. The outer lanes favor long sightlines; the central Overlook watches Maintenance, Loading Bay, and Atrium. A lower-level Security route links Lifeboat directly to Atrium, giving you a way to rotate without crossing the middle.
How Colossus is laid out
The official Colossus map guide describes three primary lanes leading from Atrium toward Wreckage. Think of the map as two long-range outer routes and a more connected center, rather than as three identical corridors.
- Outer lanes: Both offer long sightlines and support ranged engagements.
- Middle lane: Large Maintenance and Loading Bay areas connect through Overlook.
- Lower route: Security bypasses the middle lane and connects Lifeboat with Atrium.
The map is set on a luxury Caribbean island sinking into the sea. Players first encountered the location in Black Ops 2’s “Karma” campaign mission, before it became a derelict wasteland.

Overlook: central observation point
Overlook sits near the center and provides views over Maintenance, Loading Bay, and Atrium. Its low walls can be used to mount a weapon, which the official guide recommends as a way to watch for incoming threats. That coverage also makes Overlook a position opponents may try to challenge from multiple directions; check the approaches instead of focusing on only one lane.

Outer lanes: long-range exchanges
The two outer lanes are the map’s clearest long-sightline routes. The official guide suggests barrel attachments that extend damage range, including on weapons otherwise better suited to close fights. Treat that as general map guidance, not a verified best build: the source does not establish a currently optimal attachment or weapon balance.
Atrium: overhead and side openings
Atrium’s large overhead and side windows leave openings for Scorestreaks. The guide notes that players can respond with a Launcher. Watch the exposed openings when moving through or holding the area, and consider the Launcher option if an enemy Scorestreak is affecting your team.

Which routes should you use?
Use the middle when you need access across the central spaces
Overlook connects the central fight across Maintenance and Loading Bay, while also watching Atrium. Moving through it can put you near several important areas, but it also means passing through a position with broad views. Check for a player holding its low walls before committing to a direct crossing.

Use Security to rotate between Lifeboat and Atrium
Security is a lower-level route that links Lifeboat directly to Atrium, bypassing the middle lane. Use it to pivot between the two outer-lane sides or reposition when opponents are contesting Overlook. It is an alternate rotation, not a guarantee of a safe passage: the official guide does not describe its timing or say it is free from enemy traffic.

Wall-jump to reach the balconies
The official guide identifies Wall Jump routes to balconies in Loading Bay and Maintenance. Atrium’s balcony is reachable by Wall Jump or by a ramp. At the identified locations, the guide says Wall Jump is faster than taking the stairs. Use these routes when you want to reach an upper position quickly, while keeping in mind that a faster ascent can still expose you to players watching the landing area.
Outer lanes or center: which suits your approach?

How should you adapt to the mode?
The official map page displays Domination and Hardpoint zone layers. The September 22, 2025 multiplayer deep dive lists Colossus among Black Ops 7’s 16 core 6v6 launch maps and names launch modes including Team Deathmatch, Domination, Search & Destroy, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, Gunfight, and Control. These launch details do not confirm which modes or playlists currently feature Colossus; check the in-game playlist for current availability.

For Domination or Hardpoint, use the displayed zone layers to orient yourself, then choose between the central route and Security based on where opponents are holding. The official map information does not establish exact capture-zone timings or a universally best rotation, so adapt to the objective and the enemy’s position rather than assuming one route always wins.

What the map guide does not quantify
The official guide does not publish map dimensions, route timing, weapon damage figures, or player-performance data. Its tactical suggestions describe features and possible uses; they are not hands-on test results. For broader design context, Treyarch Design Director Matt Scronce told Xbox Wire on October 27, 2025: “Every lane needs a purpose.”
