What is Colorlib Search Form V21?
V21 is one of the search form and bar designs in Colorlib’s template collection. The official V21 listing presents it as a free, expandable search bar with square and round styles. Colorlib says it is intended for mobile and desktop, but the listing does not establish independent testing across devices or browsers.
The listing identifies Colorlib as the author and names Rok Krivec in its page metadata. Its date fields conflict: the page header is dated March 17, 2021, while a details field says “Released: 2025.” The available information does not resolve that discrepancy, so neither date should be treated as a definitive release date. The listing gives the license as CC BY 3.0.

What does the template include—and what does it not do?
Think of V21 as a front-end starting point for the search box’s appearance and interaction. Colorlib’s search form and bar category page says the snippets need to be coded into a site. A visible form by itself does not provide a searchable index, retrieve matching pages, or create a search backend.

- You still need to provide: the site integration and a search destination or implementation that can process queries and return results.
The category page discusses possible integrations, but does not confirm that they are included in V21 or that V21 depends on a particular library or API.
How to download and add V21 to a site
- Review the listing and license. Open the V21 template page and check its current terms and download instructions. The listing identifies the license as CC BY 3.0.
- Request the download. Colorlib’s category page provides a download form that asks for an email address to send the free download link. It also indicates that occasional updates may be sent and includes a marketing-consent field. Review the current form and its choices before submitting.
- Inspect the downloaded files. Identify the markup, styles, and any scripts supplied, then determine how they fit your site’s existing structure. The category page says snippets must be coded into a site; it does not give a V21-specific installation path or establish that the template is a one-click plugin.
- Connect search behavior. Route submitted queries to a search service or to an index built for your content. For a static site, Colorlib’s category FAQ names Pagefind and Lunr.js as options. These are category-level suggestions, not confirmed V21 dependencies.
- Test the integrated form. Check that expanding the control, entering a query, submitting it, and displaying results work in your own site layout. The listing’s mobile and desktop description is not a substitute for testing your implementation.
How can a static site make the search form useful?
A static site still needs a way to find and return relevant content. Colorlib’s category FAQ names Pagefind and Lunr.js as possible static-site indexing options. Choose and configure an indexing approach for your site, then connect the form’s query and submission behavior to it. The category page does not state that either option is packaged with V21.

For autocomplete, the same FAQ says suggestions can be connected to an API or a static array. That describes a category-level implementation possibility, not a feature confirmed as built into V21. Suggestions also require a source of terms and code to display and select them.

Colorlib’s category includes multiple approaches, including expandable bars, full-width headers, dropdown suggestions, and filtered search with categories. Pick based on the interaction your visitors need and the integration work you can support:

- Choose an expandable bar if you want the search control to begin compact and open when used; V21 is presented in this style.
- Consider a full-width header if search should be prominent across the page rather than tucked into an expandable control.
- Consider dropdown suggestions if users should see possible queries while typing; suggestions need an API or static data source and an implementation to display them.
- Consider filtered search if visitors need to narrow results by categories, which involves more than the appearance of a search field.
These are options described across Colorlib’s collection, not confirmed features bundled into V21. The best fit depends on your site’s search system as well as the visual treatment.
