Apple’s A19 leads the reported CPU benchmarks in this comparison. NanoReview’s Geekbench 6 figures are higher for A19 in both single-core and multi-core tests, but they come from different phones and sample sets—not a controlled test of both chips in equivalent devices. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 has a different platform profile, including Qualcomm’s Adreno graphics, X70 modem and FastConnect 7800 connectivity. For a buying decision, compare complete phones rather than treating a chip score as a guarantee of speed, battery life or gaming performance.
At a glance: A19 leads the reported CPU scores
The available head-to-head Geekbench 6 comparison favors Apple A19 in both CPU measures. NanoReview reports 3,692 for A19 versus 1,923 for Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 in single-core, and 9,454 versus 5,179 in multi-core. These are source-reported comparison figures, not results from a new same-device test; the comparison lists 9 A19 results and 64 Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 results. Treat them as evidence of the ranking in that dataset, not a precise prediction of how every phone will perform.
Apple documents A19 in the iPhone 17. Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is a Qualcomm platform used in phones whose design and configuration vary by manufacturer. That difference matters: a benchmark measures a chip operating inside a particular device, with its software and thermal limits.

| Specification | Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 | Apple A19 |
|---|---|---|
| Device context | Qualcomm mobile platform; the phone and configuration depend on the manufacturer. | Used in Apple iPhone 17. |
| CPU | Kryo CPU architecture, with speeds up to 3 GHz; comparison listings describe 8 cores. | 6 cores: 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. |
| Graphics | Adreno GPU; Qualcomm lists Vulkan 1.3 API support. | 5-core GPU with hardware-accelerated ray tracing. |
| Manufacturing process | Qualcomm lists 4 nm. | Apple describes third-generation 3-nanometer technology. |
| Wireless connectivity | X70 5G modem and FastConnect 7800, with Wi-Fi 7 support. | iPhone 17 includes Apple’s N1 wireless chip; Apple lists Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. |
| AI and imaging | Qualcomm describes Hexagon AI features and an 18-bit Spectra ISP. | Apple lists a 16-core Neural Engine, Neural Accelerators within GPU cores and an updated ISP. |
These specifications describe different parts of each platform, not an apples-to-apples performance scale. Core counts and clock speeds alone do not establish which CPU is faster; process labels are manufacturer descriptions, not direct measures of speed or efficiency. GPU APIs and device implementations also differ, and AI features do not guarantee identical app support or workloads across Android and iOS.

Geekbench 6 results
| Geekbench 6 measure | Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 | Apple A19 | Reported leader |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single-core | 1,923 | 3,692 | A19 |
| Multi-core | 5,179 | 9,454 | A19 |
Scores and sample counts are from NanoReview’s comparison, accessed in 2026; its listing includes 64 Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 results and 9 A19 results. The unequal sample sizes and differing device conditions mean the figures should not be read as a laboratory-controlled chip test. They do support the narrower conclusion that A19 scores higher in the reported comparison.
Geekbench’s live mobile chart also lists iPhone 17 with Apple A19. Live chart values change as submissions accumulate, so a chart score is not a fixed result or a controlled test. Tom’s Guide separately measured an iPhone 17 at 3,701 single-core and 9,460 multi-core in Geekbench 6, plus 130.97 fps in 3DMark Wild Life Original Unlimited. Those are review measurements for that phone, not NanoReview’s pooled chip comparison. Tom’s Guide’s Galaxy S25 comparison uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, not Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.

Why AnTuTu does not settle the cross-platform comparison
NanoReview reports AnTuTu 11 totals of 1,797,821 for Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and 2,156,126 for A19, but explicitly warns that iOS and Android results are not directly comparable. Those totals should not be used as a clean cross-platform winner declaration. Benchmark methodology, operating system and device implementation all affect what a score means.
What Apple’s A19 claims do—and do not—show
Apple says A19’s 6-core CPU is 1.5 times faster than the A15 Bionic in iPhone 13, and its 5-core GPU is more than twice as fast. Those are Apple’s claims against the A15 baseline, not comparisons against Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. They provide context for Apple’s stated generational gains but do not independently verify the head-to-head results above.

Does the benchmark winner mean the better phone?
No. A higher synthetic CPU score does not establish better battery life, sustained gaming performance or overall value. Those outcomes depend on the specific phone’s cooling, power management, software, workload and configuration. The available figures do not establish an equivalent-device comparison for sustained performance or battery life.

- Performance over time: Look for measurements of sustained workloads and thermal behavior for the specific phone, not just a peak score.
- Battery: Use whole-phone battery tests and consider display size, capacity and software; chip benchmarks alone cannot rank endurance here.
- Gaming: Check performance in the games and graphics settings you use. GPU APIs and implementation differ between platforms.
- Software and features: Confirm the apps, operating-system features and update support you need on the particular device.
- Connectivity and configuration: Verify regional network bands and the exact handset’s wireless features rather than assuming every phone built around a platform is identical.
- Price and availability: Compare current offers for the complete phones. The platform specifications do not identify a representative current Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 handset or its regional configuration.
Verdict
If the question is which chip has the higher reported CPU benchmark scores in the cited comparison, the answer is Apple A19. If the question is which phone is faster, lasts longer or is the better purchase, these chip-level results are not enough: compare the specific iPhone 17 with a verified Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 handset using device-level tests and the features that matter to you.
