These 25 photography websites offer ideas for presenting a portfolio, guiding prospective clients toward an inquiry, and selling work online. Colorlib’s September 25, 2026, collection spans wedding, commercial, editorial, fine-art, travel, and other photography. Its platform labels and design descriptions are Colorlib’s editorial reporting—not an independent audit of the sites as they look today.

What makes a photography website useful to study?

A strong photography site has to do more than display attractive images. It should help the right visitor recognize the photographer’s specialty, find relevant work, and understand what to do next. As Colorlib author Aigars Silkalns puts it, “A photographer’s website is the ultimate portfolio — it needs to let the images speak while making it effortless for clients to inquire, book, and explore your work.”

The examples below are useful as design references, not proof that a particular layout increases bookings or sales. Colorlib does not describe a standardized review method, current platform comparison, or independent usability testing. Websites and platform attributions can also change after the collection’s publication.

What to notice in the portfolio design

Let the work set the visual tone

Full-screen images, full-width hero photographs, dark backgrounds, and open layouts appear across the collection. Colorlib describes examples such as Levon Biss’s dramatic full-screen presentation, Scott Snyder’s use of negative space, and Sharon Radisch’s minimalist layout. These are different ways to give photographs visual prominence; the right choice depends on the work and the audience.

Make categories match the visitor’s question

A client looking for a wedding photographer needs a different browsing path from an art director seeking food or product work. The list includes category grids, project-organized portfolios, split portfolios, and complete wedding-story galleries. Organize sections around the assignments or subjects clients need to assess, rather than making every visitor browse one undifferentiated feed.

Use motion and video with purpose

Video heroes, hover motion, parallax, and scroll transitions are among the details Colorlib highlights for Mathieu Stern, Calvin Pausania, Reiko Wakai, Levon Biss, and Cassandra Ladru. Motion can establish a mood or introduce a project, but it should not obscure navigation or make key images and information difficult to reach.

How the sites guide clients and support sales

Give prospective clients a clear next step

Organic Headshots is described as using booking calls to action, while Calvin Pausania’s site is described as having a prominent entry call to action. Those examples point to a practical design choice: make the inquiry or booking route easy to find, and pair it with enough relevant portfolio and service context for a visitor to decide whether to proceed.

Use stories, testimonials, and client galleries where they help

Wedding story galleries let a prospective couple review a more complete body of work than a selection of unrelated highlights. Ariana Jordan’s site is described as including testimonials, while Amit Sharma’s includes client galleries. These elements serve different purposes: stories show consistency across an assignment, testimonials provide client perspective, and private galleries can support delivery or review.

Add commerce when products are part of the business

Print shops and ecommerce appear in several examples, including Brandon Woelfel, Vanessa McKeown, Gray Malin, and Nick Mele Fine Art. Pat Kay’s reported offerings also include prints, presets, courses, and travel guides. These models make sense when a photographer sells products; they are not necessary for every portfolio. Gray Malin and Nick Mele Fine Art are the examples Colorlib labels Shopify, but the collection does not compare platform plans, prices, or current features.

What these examples can—and cannot—tell you about platforms

Colorlib’s collection labels sites as Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, Webflow, WordPress, or, in two cases, “Other.” It does not establish that one platform is best, nor does it compare current pricing, features, or performance. Treat the labels as part of the examples, not as a platform-selection test.

Start with the site’s job. A portfolio focused on inquiries may prioritize clear categories, service information, and a contact route. A photography business selling prints may need product collections and a purchase path. If both client work and commerce matter, plan how those audiences will navigate between them before choosing a platform.

A practical checklist for borrowing ideas

  • Choose portfolio categories based on the work prospective clients need to see.
  • Let strong photography dominate without sacrificing legible navigation.
  • Put inquiry or booking information where visitors can find it.
  • Show complete stories or client galleries when they help people evaluate the work.
  • Include ecommerce only if selling prints or other products is part of the business.
  • Select a platform after defining the portfolio, client, and sales functions the site needs.
