The three basic parts of a bar are the counter, the backbar, and the underbar. The counter is the customer-facing surface; the backbar sits behind it for display and storage; and the underbar is the work and equipment area below it. You may also see these called the bar top, bar back, and bar base.

What is the backbar?
The backbar, also called the bar back, is the area behind the counter. It can display beverage selections while storing supplies and equipment.
