The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 leads the available 91mobiles comparison in its displayed AnTuTu and Geekbench scores, but those figures are not a controlled, matched-phone test. The chips also differ in CPU architecture, graphics hardware, and platform features. For a phone purchase, the handset’s cooling, battery, cameras, software support, regional configuration, and price matter as much as the processor.

At a glance: Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 vs Dimensity 9200 Plus

These are smartphone platforms from different generations: Qualcomm announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 on November 26, 2025, while MediaTek announced Dimensity 9200+ on May 10, 2023. The comparison here is specifically with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, not Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5; their names and specifications should not be conflated.

Specification Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Dimensity 9200+
CPU Qualcomm custom Oryon: 2 prime cores up to 3.8 GHz and 6 performance cores up to 3.32 GHz 1 Arm Cortex-X3 up to 3.35 GHz, 3 Cortex-A715 up to 3.0 GHz, and 4 Cortex-A510 up to 2.0 GHz
GPU Qualcomm Adreno; Qualcomm lists hardware-accelerated ray tracing and gaming features 11-core Arm Immortalis-G715; MediaTek says it is boosted by 17% over its predecessor
Cellular modem Qualcomm X80 5G Modem-RF; support listed for sub-6 GHz and mmWave Release-16 5G modem; MediaTek lists sub-6 GHz and mmWave support
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Wi-Fi 7 and FastConnect 7900 listed by Qualcomm; Bluetooth specification not stated in the cited product information Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 listed by MediaTek
Other platform blocks Hexagon NPU and Spectra ISP features APU 690, Imagiq 890 ISP, HyperEngine 6.0, and MiraVision features

These are manufacturer specifications, not independent, head-to-head measurements. A phone maker’s implementation and regional configuration determine which capabilities a particular handset actually offers. What do the AnTuTu and Geekbench scores show?

91mobiles displays higher results for Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 in its comparison page. The scores below are figures reported by 91mobiles and accessed in 2026; they are not scores published by Qualcomm, MediaTek, AnTuTu, or Geekbench.

Benchmark Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Dimensity 9200+
AnTuTu total 3,098,258 1,524,110
Geekbench 6 single-core 2,889 1,854
Geekbench 6 multi-core 9,583 5,066

The comparison page’s returned information does not establish that both chips were tested in equivalent phones under controlled, identical conditions. Benchmark results can vary with the test version, handset, cooling, firmware, and test conditions. Treat these values as one third-party comparison, not a guaranteed result or universal performance ratio for every phone.

Qualcomm also reports a 36% CPU performance improvement, 76% better web-browsing responsiveness, 11% graphics performance improvement, and 46% Hexagon NPU performance improvement for Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 against Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Those are Qualcomm’s 2025 previous-generation comparisons, not direct measurements against Dimensity 9200+. MediaTek’s claim that the Dimensity 9200+ GPU is boosted by 17% is likewise a comparison with its own predecessor, not with Snapdragon. Qualcomm’s announcement and MediaTek’s launch announcement describe those manufacturer claims.

How do the CPU and GPU designs differ?

CPU architecture

Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 uses Qualcomm’s custom Oryon CPU design, with two prime cores and six performance cores. Dimensity 9200+ uses Arm Cortex-X3, Cortex-A715, and Cortex-A510 cores in a one-plus-three-plus-four arrangement. The clock speeds and core counts describe the designs, but peak clocks alone do not establish how fast a phone will be in a sustained workload.

Graphics and gaming features

Qualcomm’s platform uses an Adreno GPU and lists hardware-accelerated ray tracing and gaming features. MediaTek’s platform uses an 11-core Immortalis-G715 GPU and includes its HyperEngine 6.0 gaming technology. Different graphics hardware and feature suites do not, by themselves, show which chip delivers higher frame rates or better sustained gaming in a given phone.

The available comparison does not provide a controlled test of game frame rates, thermal throttling, sustained performance, or power draw for these two processors. There is therefore no sound basis here to declare one cooler, more power-efficient, or better for long gaming sessions based on peak specifications.

Connectivity, imaging, and AI: what the specs establish

Cellular and wireless connectivity

Qualcomm lists its X80 5G Modem-RF with sub-6 GHz and mmWave support, as well as Wi-Fi 7 and FastConnect 7900. MediaTek describes a Release-16 5G modem supporting sub-6 GHz and mmWave, and lists Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3. MediaTek’s 2023 announcement says its modem “fluidly switches between long-reach sub-6GHz and super-fast mmWave connections.” Actual bands and enabled features depend on the phone model and market, so verify a specific handset’s regional specifications rather than assuming every listed capability is enabled.

Imaging and AI processing

Qualcomm lists Spectra ISP features and a Hexagon NPU. MediaTek lists its Imagiq 890 ISP and APU 690. These platform blocks indicate different imaging and AI hardware suites; they do not establish which phone takes better photos, records better video, or runs a particular AI feature. Camera sensors, software processing, memory, and the manufacturer’s implementation all shape the handset’s results.

Which is better, and which phone should you buy?

If you are comparing the reported benchmark figures, 91mobiles’ displayed results favor Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. If you are choosing a phone, that comparison alone is not enough to select a winner: it does not settle sustained gaming, battery life, heat, camera quality, software-update policy, regional bands, or value at the price available to you.

91mobiles lists Vivo V40 Pro, Vivo T3 Ultra, iQOO Neo 8 Pro, and Xiaomi 13T Pro as Dimensity 9200+ examples, and Motorola Signature and OnePlus 15R as Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 examples. These are examples from the comparison page, not confirmation of current stock, price, exact variant, or availability in a particular country. Check the precise model and market before comparing.

  • Compare independent reviews of the exact phones for sustained performance, gaming, and heat—not just peak chip specifications.
  • Check battery capacity and real-world endurance, since processor names do not determine a handset’s battery life on their own.
  • Review the phone’s camera hardware and sample results, software-update policy, and regional cellular-band support.
  • Compare current local prices and the exact model variants being sold; the chip comparison does not establish today’s availability or value.
