If your Xbox microphone works in Warzone only intermittently—or teammates cannot hear you—start with Warzone’s own voice-chat settings and mute controls. Then test the mic in Xbox party chat or another game to see whether the problem is limited to Warzone or points to the headset or console chat path.
1. Check Warzone’s voice-chat settings
- Open Settings > Audio > Voice Chat. Confirm that voice chat is enabled.
- Check voice-chat volume. Raise it if it is turned down.
- Check the voice-chat audience or channel. Make sure the setting includes the people you want to hear or talk to. Some voice controls may also be available from the pre-game lobby.
Activision’s Warzone communication guidance describes these controls. Menu names and availability can change between game updates or locales.
2. Check whether a player is muted
Look in the scoreboard or voice controls for a muted teammate or player. Warzone has player-level communication controls, so a mute can prevent communication with one person even when voice chat is enabled. Activision also describes voice-chat options in the game’s Audio settings in its communication guidance.

Try the microphone in Xbox party chat or another game. This is a practical comparison, not a published Xbox diagnostic protocol:

- It works elsewhere but not in Warzone: Recheck Warzone’s voice-chat settings, audience or channel, and player mutes.

This comparison helps narrow the control layer; it does not by itself identify a specific faulty component.
4. Check whether Activision recognizes a voice-chat issue
Review Activision’s Warzone known-issues page for a relevant service or game issue. The page has included notice of a fix deployed to restore voice and text chat, but that notice does not establish that an Xbox-specific microphone outage is active now.

5. Save network checks for broader connection symptoms
If Warzone has other online connection problems as well, Activision’s connection guidance points to platform service status and Xbox network connectivity checks. That guidance addresses online-game connections, not microphone diagnosis, so router changes are not a useful first response to a mic-only failure.
