InMotion Hosting is the closer fit if you need a conventional web host that provides server space for a website. Cloudflare’s listed website plans focus on DNS, content delivery, and security services; they are not a like-for-like replacement for InMotion’s shared, WordPress, VPS, or dedicated hosting. Many site owners can use Cloudflare alongside a separate host rather than choosing one or the other.

What are you comparing?

InMotion Hosting sells hosting plans: the service where your website’s files and applications run. Its listed choices include shared, WordPress, VPS, dedicated, and reseller hosting. Cloudflare’s website plans center on network services, including DNS, a content delivery network (CDN), DDoS protection, SSL, and a web application firewall (WAF). Those capabilities can sit in front of a site hosted elsewhere.

The distinction matters because a Cloudflare plan’s price does not, by itself, buy the same thing as a conventional hosting plan. A concrete example is WordPress.com: Cloudflare’s support documentation, updated April 23, 2026, explains how customers can add Cloudflare to a WordPress.com site by reviewing and configuring DNS records. Cloudflare describes the arrangement as bringing its performance and security services to WordPress.com’s hosting platform. Read Cloudflare’s WordPress.com integration guidance.

How do their listed prices compare?

The figures below are the prices displayed on the providers’ official pages, not a complete quote for every feature or usage. Hosting prices depend on plan and term, while Cloudflare add-ons can be priced separately. Check the current offer, billing interval, and renewal terms before buying.

Service or plan Displayed price What the price represents
Cloudflare Free $0/month Website plan; separately listed products may cost extra.
Cloudflare Pro $20/month billed annually, or $25/month billed monthly Website plan.
Cloudflare Business $200/month billed annually, or $250/month billed monthly Website plan.
Cloudflare Contract Custom annual contract Custom tier; no fixed price is displayed.
InMotion Power shared hosting Starting at $5.99/month; renews at $17.99/month Displayed offer is plan- and term-dependent. The introductory amount is not the renewal rate.

Cloudflare lists Automatic Platform Optimization for WordPress at $5/month for the Free plan and as included with Pro, Business, and Enterprise. This is a distinct add-on or plan inclusion, not a substitute for the hosting itself. InMotion’s general hosting page also says a free-domain offer is limited by term and extension: the domain is free only for its first year and renews at the then-current regular price. Its money-back periods vary by plan and come with restrictions. Check Cloudflare’s website plans and InMotion’s hosting plans for current terms.

What does each provider include for a website?

Cloudflare: network and security services

Cloudflare’s website plans list DNS, unmetered DDoS protection, CDN, Universal SSL, and WAF. Its WordPress optimization product adds CDN delivery and intelligent caching. These services can improve how a site is delivered and protected, but you still need a hosting platform for the website’s application and content.

InMotion: hosting plans and WordPress options

InMotion lists shared, essential WordPress, managed WordPress, VPS, dedicated, and reseller plans. Its WordPress page describes options with WordPress preinstalled, NVMe storage, automatic offsite backups, malware protection, migration support, email, and Cloudflare integration. Site counts and support channels vary by plan, so check the individual plan rather than assuming every feature applies across the range. The page states that its 90-day money-back guarantee applies to plans of six months or longer; confirm eligibility and other conditions for the specific plan and term.

Which one fits your situation?

  • Choose InMotion Hosting if you need a host for a new or existing website, want a WordPress hosting option, or need to select among shared, VPS, dedicated, and reseller hosting. InMotion describes shared hosting as suitable for new or small sites and VPS as an option for growing businesses seeking more control; these are the provider’s descriptions, not independent performance findings.
  • Consider Cloudflare if you already have hosting and want DNS, CDN, or security services, or if you want to evaluate its WordPress optimization offering. Confirm that the features and configuration match your existing host and site.
  • Use both where appropriate if you need InMotion to host the site and want Cloudflare’s network or security services in front of it. The Cloudflare–WordPress.com setup is one documented example of this complementary arrangement, not proof that every hosting plan integrates identically.

Can the available evidence name a speed or uptime winner?

No. The official plan pages describe features and vendor positioning, but they do not provide a controlled, comparable Cloudflare-versus-InMotion test. The available information therefore does not establish which is faster or more reliable for a particular website. Results can depend on the hosting plan, site configuration, traffic, location, and whether a CDN is in use. Treat provider performance language as a claim about its own service, not as a head-to-head benchmark.

What to check before you sign up

  • Identify whether you need hosting, network services, or both; compare plans that perform the same role.
  • For InMotion, compare the introductory rate with the renewal price and verify the required term, included features, and guarantee conditions.
  • For Cloudflare, distinguish the website-plan price from separately priced products such as Automatic Platform Optimization.
  • If migrating, confirm the selected InMotion plan’s migration support and what is included. InMotion’s hosting FAQ addresses migration, hosting, and the difference between hosting and a domain; a domain registration is not the same service as hosting.
  • For a combined setup, review DNS records and your host’s integration instructions before changing nameservers or records. A DNS change can affect access to the site and related services such as email if records are configured incorrectly.
