There is no universal way to open a Logitech mouse: the steps depend on its exact model, and opening the battery cover is different from dismantling the mouse’s internal shell. Check the model name or number printed on the underside first, then use the matching instructions below. The procedures here cover battery access only.
Identify your Logitech mouse before opening it
Turn the mouse over and look for its model name or number. Use that exact identifier to find the relevant instructions; do not assume that a method for one Logitech mouse applies to another. If the model label is unclear, consult the documentation for the mouse before trying to remove a cover.
Open the battery compartment on documented models
Logitech M535, M336, and M337
- Slide the battery-compartment cover down.
- Lift the cover off.
- Insert the battery in the orientation shown inside the compartment, then replace the cover.

Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED
- Press down on the grooves in the keyplate.
- Slide the keyplate off to reveal the battery cage.
- Install a compatible AA battery in the orientation indicated in the cage.
- Slide the keyplate back into place.

Check whether the battery is replaceable
A removable cover does not mean every Logitech mouse has a user-replaceable battery. Logitech specifies one AA alkaline battery for the M305, and its guidance supports using that battery only for the M305. The G305 also has an accessible, replaceable AA battery. Logitech’s M305 battery instructions explain its replacement.
By contrast, Logitech describes the battery in the original MX Master as rechargeable and non-replaceable. That information applies to the original MX Master; check the documentation for the exact generation rather than extending it to later models. If you mean opening the internal shell
Removing a battery cover is not the same as dismantling the mouse for repair. The battery-access instructions above do not identify shell screws, safe pry points, or a disassembly sequence. Find repair instructions for your exact model and intended repair before taking the shell apart; do not force a seam or extrapolate from another model’s cover design.
