In the checked US listings, the OnePlus 15 starts at $899.99 for 12GB/256GB, while the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 starts at $1,899.99 before trade-in—a $1,000 entry-price difference. The OnePlus is a conventional phone with a 6.78-inch screen and 7,300mAh battery; Samsung’s 201g book-style foldable has a 5.5-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch inner screen. The choice is mainly between a lower-priced slab phone and a foldable with a larger working display, not a simple contest in which one spec makes the other obsolete.

How large is the price difference?

At the entry configurations shown, the Fold8 costs $1,000 more than the OnePlus 15: $1,899.99 versus $899.99. That is a comparison of starting prices, not a final checkout quote. The OnePlus US page also lists a 16GB/512GB version at $999.99, but the available US price information does not establish a like-for-like Fold8 price for the same storage tier. Trade-ins, carrier offers, and promotions can change what a buyer pays.

Which screen and form factor suit your use?

OnePlus 15: one uninterrupted phone display

The OnePlus has a single 6.78-inch screen, with a stated resolution of 2772 × 1272. Its adaptive refresh rate is listed as 1–120Hz, with up to 165Hz available in gaming. It is the more straightforward choice if you want a conventional phone display rather than a device that opens into a larger workspace.

Galaxy Z Fold8: a cover screen plus an inner display

The Fold8 offers a 5.5-inch outer screen for folded use and a 7.6-inch main screen when opened. Samsung lists 10:16 folded and 4:3 unfolded aspect ratios. That design can make reading, viewing, or using apps side by side more practical, but it means choosing between the smaller cover display and opening the phone for the larger screen.

Weight, battery capacity, and charging

Samsung lists the Fold8 at 201g, compared with 211g or 215g for the OnePlus 15 depending on color. The OnePlus has the larger stated battery capacity, 7,300mAh against 4,800mAh. Capacity alone does not establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use; no comparable independent battery test is available here. Samsung’s claim of up to 26 hours of streaming is a manufacturer figure, not an independent test.

Charging figures are region-specific. The OnePlus global specifications list 120W wired and 50W wireless charging, while the US launch page lists 80W SUPERVOOC, up to 100W with a specified OnePlus adapter. Do not treat the global 120W figure as a US charging promise. The OnePlus US page says a charger is included; check the listing for the market and configuration you plan to buy.

What the camera specifications do—and do not—show

The OnePlus lists three 50MP rear cameras, including a dedicated 3.5× optical telephoto camera alongside main and ultrawide cameras. Samsung describes two 50MP rear cameras, a wide and an ultrawide. This gives the OnePlus a specifically listed optical-zoom camera, but megapixel counts and camera configuration do not prove which phone takes better photos. No comparable independent camera testing is established here.

Fold8 features to check before buying

  • No S Pen support: Samsung’s US product page says the Galaxy Z Fold8 does not support S Pen.
  • No FlexMode: Samsung also says the Fold8 does not support FlexMode.
  • Thickness: Samsung lists the device as 4.5mm unfolded and 9.7mm folded.

If pen input or FlexMode is essential to your routine, verify those limitations against your needs before choosing the Fold8. The OnePlus US launch page lists IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K ratings; the comparison here does not establish equivalent Fold8 protection ratings.

Which phone should you choose?

  • Choose the OnePlus 15 if your priorities are the lower listed US starting price, a conventional large display, higher stated battery capacity, or a dedicated 3.5× optical telephoto camera.
  • Choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 if you specifically want a phone that opens into a 7.6-inch display and value that larger inner screen enough to accept the higher listed starting price and the stated lack of S Pen and FlexMode support.

These are specification-based trade-offs, not a performance verdict. The listed processors are related but differently named, and no comparative benchmark or hands-on camera or battery test is established here.
