CLR Browser is an OBS Classic plugin, not an OBS Studio plugin. If you use OBS Studio, look for its separate built-in Browser Source instead; installing CLR Browser will not add that feature. Check which OBS version you have before following any installation instructions.
First, check whether you use OBS Classic or OBS Studio
OBS Classic and OBS Studio are different programs with different plugin compatibility. CLR Browser was made for OBS Classic. A historical OBS community forum answer states that “OBS Studio is not compatible with OBS Classic plugins.” The forum discussion dates from 2016, so it explains the distinction rather than establishing a current support policy or a safe present-day CLR download.
Do not try to install CLR Browser in OBS Studio. If you want to display a webpage, overlay, or other browser content in OBS Studio, use its Browser Source.

Where to find Browser Source in OBS Studio
- Open OBS Studio and find the Sources panel.
- Select the add-source control, usually shown as a plus sign.
- Look for Browser or Browser Source. The wording can differ by version or localization.
- Select it and add the source. You do not need a separate CLR Browser installation for this OBS Studio feature.
The OBS Project’s obs-browser project describes Browser Source as a cross-platform OBS Studio feature. It says the feature is included by default in official Windows and macOS packages, the Ubuntu PPA, and the official Flatpak.

What to do if Browser Source is missing
- Confirm the program: Check whether you opened OBS Studio or OBS Classic. CLR Browser is not a fix for a missing OBS Studio source.
- Identify the installation package: If you use OBS Studio, check how it was installed. The official project’s default-inclusion statement covers the packages listed above, not every third-party Linux package.
- Check package documentation: For a third-party package or Linux distribution, consult its documentation to see whether it provides
obs-browser.
Do not treat older forum suggestions to reinstall OBS or choose a “full installer” as universal current instructions. Those posts are historical; first verify your OBS product and package.

The available information identifies CLR Browser as an OBS Classic plugin but does not establish a current supported download or installation procedure. Avoid relying on old binaries or archived installation steps unless you can verify that a release is authentic and compatible with your exact OBS Classic build and operating system. The OBS Studio Browser Source is a separate feature, not a replacement plugin you can install into OBS Classic.
