Hosting.com is the current name of A2 Hosting, so readers searching for alternatives to either name are looking for substitutes for the same hosting provider. There is no verified ranking of the nine closest replacements here; use the names below as a shortlist, then compare the plan type, renewal bill, capacity, support and migration requirements that matter to your site.
Start with the reason you want to switch
Hosting.com markets shared, cloud and dedicated hosting, so the closest replacement depends on what you use rather than the brand name alone. A small WordPress site, several low-traffic sites and a resource-intensive application do not necessarily need the same kind of plan. Hosting.com’s current product categories are listed on its hosting page.
- Renewal cost: Compare the amount due now, the length of the prepaid term and the renewal price and interval. An advertised monthly equivalent may require paying for a long term upfront.
- Capacity: Check the number of websites allowed, storage type and limit, and the provider’s traffic or bandwidth wording. Terms such as “unlimited” do not establish identical resource guarantees.
- Included services: Confirm backup frequency, email duration, SSL, staging and any domain or CDN inclusion for the exact plan and term.
- Hosting type and tools: Match shared hosting, managed WordPress, VPS or cloud, or dedicated hosting to your workload. Check the control panel and technical constraints if they affect how you administer the site.
- Migration: Establish whether your platform qualifies, whether the transfer is automated or assisted, and whether email, databases and DNS are included.
Nine providers to put on your shortlist
This is a shortlist, not a “best nine” ranking or a claim that all nine are equally close substitutes. The available first-party detail supports a more specific comparison for three providers; for the others, verify the exact product and current terms before deciding.

- DreamHost: A candidate with a documented Launch plan and distinct migration terms for WordPress and other site types.
- InMotion Hosting: Offers shared hosting, managed WordPress and free website migration on its hosting page. The available page information does not establish a plan-level price or feature comparison, so check the selected plan directly.
- Namecheap: Its hosting page lists shared-hosting features including SSD storage, SSL, cPanel, one-click installs and free website migration. Confirm the chosen plan’s current limits and renewal rate.
- SiteGround: A name to investigate, but the available provider-specific evidence does not establish a current plan comparison or a particular advantage over Hosting.com.
- HostGator: A name to investigate; verify its current hosting type, capacity, migration scope and renewal terms before treating it as a match.
- Bluehost: A name to investigate; the available evidence does not establish current plan-level differentiators for this comparison.
- GreenGeeks: A name to investigate; compare its current plan details against your workload rather than assuming a particular fit.
- Scala Hosting: A name to investigate; check whether its current offerings match the hosting category and technical requirements you use.
- Cloudways: A name to investigate; establish the relevant hosting model, billing and migration requirements before comparing it with a shared or managed WordPress plan.
Compare documented US plan examples carefully
The figures below are snapshots of US-market provider pages checked on October 7, 2026, not independent performance tests or enduring prices. Introductory monthly equivalents should not be mistaken for month-to-month billing. Confirm the checkout term, renewal amount, region, taxes and features before purchase.
#1 Best Overall
| Provider and plan | Displayed offer and renewal | Websites and storage | Backups and email | Migration information |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DreamHost Launch | $2.89/month displayed for the first year, then $10.99/month renewal. The displayed introductory figure is not evidence that this offer is billed monthly. | 25 websites; 25 GB NVMe. | Daily automated backups; email trial for three months. | Free automated transfer is described for WordPress. The provider lists $99 for non-WordPress migration service; see its exclusions and details below. |
DreamHost’s web hosting page lists a 30-day guarantee and says monthly billing exists; verify that the billing option and price apply to the exact offer you select.
Check migration before you cancel the old account
A “free migration” offer does not by itself establish that every part of a website will move at no charge. Check the platform, scope and exclusions with the new provider, and plan for related services that may be outside a site-file transfer.
- DreamHost: Its migration guidance describes a free automated WordPress transfer and a $99 service for non-WordPress migration. It also identifies site types it cannot migrate. Check the page against your platform and ask separately about email, databases and DNS.
- InMotion Hosting and Namecheap: Their cited pages advertise free website migration, but the available details do not establish eligibility or whether related services are included. Ask before scheduling the move.
Keep the existing hosting active until you have checked the migrated site and confirmed that DNS points to the new host. If email uses the old hosting account, arrange its move or replacement separately so a website transfer does not interrupt mail.

Make the final choice on the plan, not the provider name
- Write down the hosting category you need, the number of sites, storage requirements and any must-have control-panel or WordPress tools.
- For each candidate, record the amount charged upfront, prepaid term, renewal rate and renewal interval from the current checkout or plan page.
- Check backup frequency, email duration, migration eligibility and exclusions alongside the headline price.
- Contact the provider about any unresolved migration or capacity question, then compare only plans that meet your requirements.
Provider pages establish their own advertised features and prices; they do not establish comparative speed, uptime or support quality. No independent benchmark or hands-on comparison is available to support a performance ranking of these providers.
