To use the standard recon drone in Ghost Recon Breakpoint, hold Up on the D-pad on a PlayStation or Xbox controller, or press X on the default PC keyboard layout. Deploy it from cover or while prone, then scout enemy positions before moving in: your character is vulnerable while operating the drone.

How to scout safely
- Find cover or go prone. Ubisoft cautions that your character is vulnerable while controlling the drone.
- Deploy it. Use the default input for your platform or your remapped binding.
- Look for patrols and enemies. The recon drone is meant to help you scout an area and spot enemies before approaching.
- Return to your character. Use the on-screen prompt or your current control binding; a universal return button is not specified in the available control guidance.
Ubisoft’s 2019 survival tips recommend scouting with the flying drone before advancing.

Breakpoint supports remapping keyboard, mouse, and controller inputs. Check the current in-game control bindings for the drone action. Ubisoft also documents adjustable drone sensitivity and acceleration in its accessibility overview.

If you do not have the recon drone
Ubisoft’s launch-era survival tips direct players to speak with Holt in Erewhon to get the recon drone early. If that does not fit your current game state, follow the tutorial and mission prompts; the published guidance does not establish every progression or unlock case.

The recon drone is the player-controlled flying tool for scouting. The Sync Shot Drone is a separate consumable used for coordinated takedowns. Ubisoft says Sync Shot Drones can be crafted at a bivouac and assigned to the quick-access item wheel. That is not the deployment process for the standard recon drone.
