To fix lip sync on an LG OLED, first check whether the mismatch happens on one channel or across all content. Then try the TV’s sync bypass setting; if that does not help, turn bypass off and adjust the delay for your audio output. The menu path depends on your TV’s webOS version, and soundbars may need a separate adjustment.
First, find out whether the problem is limited to one channel
Check the same scene or dialogue on another channel or source. If only one channel is out of sync, LG says the broadcast signal may be responsible. Contact the broadcaster, TV service provider, or set-top-box provider rather than changing a setting that affects all audio.
If the mismatch occurs across channels or sources, continue with the TV or external audio settings.
Adjust lip sync on the LG TV
LG’s menu path differs by webOS generation. Menu names and feature availability can vary by model, so use the option shown on your TV if it differs from these paths.

For webOS 6.0 or later (2021-and-later TVs)
- Open Settings > All Settings > Sound > Advanced Settings > Match Screen and Sound.
- Turn on Bypass and check whether the picture and sound now match.
- If the mismatch remains, turn Bypass off and adjust TV Speaker Delay until speech matches the moving lips. LG says voice output becomes slower as the value gets closer to 60; its guidance does not give a universal millisecond-per-step conversion. LG’s sync guidance
LG specifies this feature for TV speakers or supported Sound Share devices connected through HDMI ARC/eARC. Whether it appears or applies to your setup depends on the model and connection.
For webOS 5.0 or earlier (2020-and-earlier TVs)
- Open Settings > All Settings > Sound > Additional Settings > AV Sync Adjustment.
- Try Bypass first and check the result.
- If needed, turn Bypass off and adjust the available delay control. Labels and controls can differ; if the right option is unclear, check the manual for your exact model. LG model support and manuals
If you use a soundbar or external speaker
Test the TV speakers and the external speaker separately. If the TV speakers sound in sync but the soundbar does not, use the soundbar’s own AV Sync control, if available. LG also says the LG Soundbar app can be used to make a slight soundbar delay adjustment on supported setups.

Digital output set to Auto can delay an external speaker relative to the TV speakers. Playing audio through both at once can also cause echo or an out-of-sync sound. If that happens, select a single speaker output instead of simultaneous playback. LG’s soundbar connection guidance
For an ARC/eARC setup, LG’s connection instructions show the soundbar’s TV eARC/ARC output connected to the TV’s HDMI input. The available sync controls still depend on the specific model and connection.

When the adjustment does not solve it
- Recheck the symptom on another channel or source. A mismatch confined to one channel may come from its broadcast signal.
- Confirm that Bypass is off before adjusting the delay control, as LG’s newer instructions direct.
- When troubleshooting a soundbar, compare it with TV-speaker playback and avoid simultaneous output if it creates echo.
- Check your exact TV manual if the menu path or control name differs; LG’s guidance notes that menus can vary by model. LG’s TV sync instructions
