The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra costs $100 more than the Galaxy Z Fold7 at Samsung’s regular U.S. unlocked price when both have 256 GB of storage: $2,099.99 versus $1,999.99. The Ultra’s clearest published differences are its 5,000 mAh battery and larger 6.5-inch cover display; Samsung’s comparison lists both phones with an 8-inch inner display and a weight of 215 g. Actual checkout prices can differ because Samsung displays promotions separately and other sellers may offer different deals.
Price difference by storage
These are Samsung U.S.’s regular listed prices for unlocked configurations, accessed October 7, 2026. They are not a promise of the price available at checkout: promotions, stock, trade-ins, carrier financing and other offers can change the amount a buyer pays.
| Storage | Galaxy Z Fold7 | Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 256 GB | $1,999.99 | $2,099.99 | $100 |
| 512 GB | $2,199.99 | $2,299.99 | $100 |
| 1 TB | $2,499.99 | $2,699.99 | $200 |
For the 256 GB models, Samsung lists the Fold8 Ultra at $2,099.99 and the Fold7 at $1,999.99. The gap is not the same at every storage tier: it rises to $200 for 1 TB. These are U.S. prices, not a global comparison; local prices, configurations and offers may differ.

Samsung Singapore’s comparison lists an 8-inch main display and a 6.5-inch cover display for the Fold8 Ultra, and lists the Fold7’s main and cover displays at 8.0 inches and 6.5 inches respectively. The Ultra is therefore not described as having a larger inner screen in that comparison. Its published cover-screen specifications are FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 1,080 × 2,520 resolution, 422 ppi and adaptive 1–120 Hz refresh rate; the main display is QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 2,504 × 2,256, 422 ppi and adaptive 1–120 Hz. Samsung cautions that diagonal measurements include rounded corners, so visible area is smaller. See Samsung’s regional comparison and published Ultra specifications.

The comparison is regional. Confirm the configuration sold in your market, and do not infer a complete resolution comparison for the Fold7 from the figures above.
Battery capacity and runtime
Samsung lists the Fold8 Ultra with a 5,000 mAh battery and claims up to 27 hours of video playback. That playback figure is a manufacturer claim, not a matched independent comparison with the Fold7. Samsung’s Singapore comparison gives the Fold7 a 4,400 mAh battery; Tom’s Guide also reports that capacity in its Fold7 coverage. Capacity alone does not establish how much longer one phone lasts in everyday use, and the available figures do not provide a controlled head-to-head runtime result. Samsung’s comparison and Tom’s Guide coverage describe different kinds of evidence: manufacturer specifications and publication testing.

- A premium foldable smartphone featuring an 8.0" Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, 6.5" cover display, 200MP main camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, 4,400mAh battery, and a slim 215g design.
Weight, dimensions and handling
Samsung Singapore lists both phones at 215 g, so its comparison does not show a weight difference. Samsung gives the Fold8 Ultra’s dimensions as 72.8 × 158.4 × 8.9 mm when folded and 143.2 × 158.4 × 4.1 mm when unfolded. The unfolded thickness excludes the main-screen frame. These specifications provide a size reference, not a hands-on assessment of comfort or one-handed use. See Samsung’s specifications and comparison.
Camera and processor: what the specifications establish
Samsung’s July 22, 2026 launch announcement describes the Fold8 Ultra with a 200 MP main camera and a 50 MP ultrawide camera, and names the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor. Those component details do not by themselves establish better photos or a particular performance advantage over the Fold7. A reliable comparison of camera quality or speed would require matched testing; no such Fold7-versus-Ultra test result is established here. See Samsung’s launch announcement.

Which model makes more sense?
Choose the Fold8 Ultra if
- You want the larger-capacity battery Samsung lists: 5,000 mAh versus 4,400 mAh for the Fold7 in Samsung Singapore’s comparison.
- The Ultra’s published cover-display specifications and newer listed processor are important to you.
- You have compared the current offer for your storage tier and are comfortable with its listed-price premium.
Choose the Fold7 if
- You can buy it at a lower price and do not need the Ultra’s published differences.
- You want the same listed 8-inch main-display size and 215 g weight shown in Samsung Singapore’s comparison.
- A promotion, trade-in or carrier offer makes the Fold7 a better value for your specific purchase.
The Fold8 Ultra is a released product, not a rumored model: Samsung Japan announced reservations beginning July 23 and sales beginning August 7, 2026, and Samsung’s U.S. store lists it for sale. Availability and sale terms can vary by market. See Samsung Japan’s announcement and the U.S. store listing.
