The message usually means Hulu no longer supports the TV model or the software platform it runs—not that Hulu is shutting down or that your account is necessarily the problem. Check for updates to both the TV and Hulu app, then compare your exact TV model with Hulu’s current supported-device list. If the built-in app is no longer supported, a compatible streaming player connected to the TV may let you keep watching.
Why Hulu says it is no longer supported on your TV
Smart TV compatibility depends on the specific model and its operating system, not just the brand. A TV may be too old for the current Hulu app, or its software platform may not meet Hulu’s requirements. The message alone does not identify which applies; you need the TV’s model and software details to check.
Updates are worth trying first. Hulu recommends checking both the app and the device software. If the app store no longer offers Hulu, or Hulu’s current support information excludes your model, an update may not restore access.

- Find the TV’s full model number. Look in the TV’s settings or on its label. A brand name by itself is not enough to verify compatibility.
- Note the operating system and version. Check the TV’s system or About settings; some support requirements apply to a platform or particular models.
- Check the Hulu app version and when the notice began. This can help distinguish a recent app change from a problem that started after a system update.
How to try updates and restart the TV
- Connect the TV to the internet and check its settings for a firmware or system update. Install any available update.
- Open the TV’s app store or app-management settings and check whether Hulu can be updated. Hulu provides platform-specific instructions for Android TV, Fire TV, Roku, LG, Samsung, VIZIO, and other devices in its app and system update guide.
- Restart the TV after installing updates, then open Hulu again.
- If the app cannot be updated, or Hulu’s current list does not include your exact model, check the compatibility examples below before trying further app fixes.

Android TV
Hulu says a variety of Android TV models running Android OS 6.0 or later are supported, including Sony Bravia Android TV models from 2015 onward, Nvidia Shield, Hisense Android TV, selected Xiaomi devices, and Chromecast with Google TV. Sony models must be running Android TV OS. Hulu cautions that not every device using Android TV is supported. Check Hulu’s supported Android TV models page against the exact device.
VIZIO Smart TVs
Hulu lists VIZIO Smart TV models released in 2016 or later as supported and advises keeping the TV and app updated. That release-year threshold does not confirm that every individual model works; consult Hulu’s VIZIO model guidance.

Other TV brands and platforms
Hulu’s supported-device list includes selected Samsung, LG, and VIZIO TVs, along with Android TV and external players. “Select models” is not a blanket promise for every TV from that brand, so verify the exact model or platform.

If Hulu’s current support information excludes your TV, you may be able to connect a supported streaming player to an available HDMI input instead. Hulu lists Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Roku players and sticks, Apple TV, Chromecast, and other devices. Confirm the exact player on Hulu’s current supported-device list before buying; a device family listing does not guarantee every model or generation is compatible.

Also check that the TV has an available HDMI input and that the player’s power and setup requirements work for your setup. The device list establishes Hulu compatibility at the listed family level, not a particular player’s price, performance, or fit for your other streaming needs.

No. Hulu’s May 19, 2026 help page says Hulu and Hulu Premium subscriptions will continue, with further Hulu integration into Disney+ planned by the end of 2026. It says eligible subscribers can explore Hulu content through Disney+, while Hulu + Live TV Only subscribers and Hulu add-on subscribers could not use that Disney+ access at the time of the notice. Hulu says viewers can continue using the Hulu app and website; Hulu + Live TV remains on Hulu for now. These service changes do not explain why a particular TV displays an unsupported-device message.
