The Bose Smart Soundbar 700 supports Bluetooth audio, but Bose’s setup app uses Bluetooth Low Energy for nearby-product discovery; seeing the bar in the app does not mean your phone or computer is paired for audio. Bose’s available guidance confirms that Bluetooth can be selected as a source, but does not establish the model-specific pairing-button sequence or the name that appears in a device’s Bluetooth list. Check the Soundbar 700 manual for those exact steps rather than guessing.
Can you connect a phone or computer to the Bose Soundbar 700 over Bluetooth?
Yes. Bose’s specifications list the Smart Soundbar 700 as Bluetooth-capable, with Bluetooth 4.2 and the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), which supports audio streaming. Bose gives a nominal Bluetooth range of 30 ft (10 m); actual performance can vary with the environment. Bose’s product specifications label the model as sold from 2018–2023. That is the period shown on Bose’s page, not a statement about current retail availability.
Why app discovery is not the same as Bluetooth audio pairing
During app setup, Bose requires Bluetooth to be enabled on the mobile device and says the Bose app uses Bluetooth Low Energy to discover nearby products. That discovery function is separate from establishing a Bluetooth audio connection. A soundbar appearing during app setup does not confirm that it is paired with your phone, tablet, or computer for playback. Bose’s Soundbar 700 setup instructions describe app discovery, not the soundbar’s Bluetooth-audio pairing sequence.
How to pair a device with the Soundbar 700
Bose’s product specifications confirm Bluetooth audio support, but the Bose guidance available here does not document which button to press to put this specific model into pairing mode or the device name to choose in your Bluetooth settings. Because button sequences and displayed names can differ among models, do not rely on instructions for another Bose soundbar.

Consult the instructions for the Bose Smart Soundbar 700 and follow its Bluetooth pairing steps for your phone, tablet, or computer. Confirm the soundbar’s displayed name in those instructions before selecting a device from your Bluetooth list.

Once paired, select Bluetooth as the soundbar’s audio source using the remote or Bose app if needed. Bose’s troubleshooting guidance identifies Bluetooth as an available source to select when checking audio playback.

If Bluetooth audio does not play
First check the selected source: use the remote or Bose app to select the Bluetooth device, as Bose recommends when troubleshooting whether audio works from other sources. Bose’s no-audio guidance for the Soundbar 700 supports this source check. If the device still will not connect, consult the model’s manual for its pairing and recovery instructions; the cited Bose guidance does not establish additional steps such as clearing pairings or resetting the soundbar.
