You can install Facebook on a smart TV only if the TV maker’s official app store offers a compatible Facebook or Facebook Watch app for your exact model and region. Search the store first. If no app appears, you may be able to cast an individual Facebook video from a phone or browser to a compatible TV device, but casting is not the same as installing Facebook or getting its full interface on the television.
Check whether your TV supports a Facebook app
Facebook Watch TV apps were offered on some televisions in the past, but older manufacturer announcements do not establish that the app is still available to install or use. Samsung’s US store listing says Facebook Watch was available on select 2015-and-newer Samsung Smart TVs and was updated October 11, 2022. Samsung’s 2017 announcement described availability on 2015–2017 models through Smart Hub. LG said on December 18, 2020, that Facebook Watch was available through the LG Content Store on webOS TVs produced from 2014 through 2020 in countries where Watch was available. Treat these as historical support statements, not a current compatibility guarantee.
Availability can depend on the television’s model and region. LG’s support guidance, dated July 22, 2026, says installable apps may vary on those factors. Check the official store on your own TV and read the listing’s compatibility details before trying to install.
Install the app if it is listed for your television
- Identify your TV. Note the brand, model, model year, operating system, and country or region set on the television.
- Open the manufacturer’s app store. On applicable Samsung TVs, use Smart Hub or the TV’s app store. On applicable LG TVs, open the LG Content Store.
- Search for “Facebook” and “Facebook Watch.” If a result appears, check its compatibility information for your exact model and region. A search result alone does not guarantee the app can be installed or still works.
- Select the official listing and choose Install or Download if the store offers that option. Follow any prompts shown on the television.
- Open the app and follow its on-screen sign-in instructions. The available sign-in method and app behavior depend on the current listing and service.
Fix an app-store download that fails
If the official store lists the app for your TV but the download or installation fails, LG recommends checking these items. Menu names and troubleshooting requirements may differ on other television brands.

- Confirm that you are signed in to the TV account required by the manufacturer.
- Check that the television is connected to the internet.
- Verify the TV’s country or region setting, since app availability can vary by location.
- Check that the TV has enough available storage.
If those checks do not help, consult support for your TV’s manufacturer and model. Do not assume that an app listing from an older announcement means the service is currently supported.
If the app is missing, try casting a video
If the TV’s official store does not offer a compatible app, an alternative may be to cast a Facebook video rather than install Facebook on the television. Meta’s instructions from October 2016 described casting from an iOS device or web browser to Apple TV or another AirPlay-enabled device, or to Chromecast or another Google Cast-enabled device. That guidance is historical; confirm that your current Facebook app or browser, receiving device, and TV support the same casting path before troubleshooting or buying hardware.

- Open the Facebook video you want to watch on a compatible phone or browser.
- Look for the TV or cast symbol in the video controls and select it, if available.
- Choose a compatible receiving device from the list and follow any prompts on the phone, browser, or TV.
If no cast control or compatible destination appears, that combination may not support casting. A Chromecast or other Google Cast-compatible device is only a possible route for video playback after compatibility is confirmed. It does not install Facebook on the TV or guarantee access to the full Facebook interface.

Choose the route that fits what you want to do
- Want Facebook itself on the TV? Use the native app route only when the official TV store lists an app compatible with your exact model and region.
- Want to watch a particular video on a larger screen? Check whether your current phone or browser and TV setup support casting that video.
- Neither option is available? The evidence here does not establish another currently supported general Facebook TV app or a supported sideloading method. Avoid treating unofficial installers or phone APKs as the normal solution.
