For October 2026, notable new or newly available apps span party games, task capture, travel planning, notes, and more. “New” here includes launches, relaunches, and arrivals on a new platform—not only apps first released in October. This is a selective roundup based on editorial lists, not a complete inventory or a set of apps tested by iTechGuides. Prices and availability can change, so check the current store listing before downloading.
How to read this October app roundup
The picks below come from two editorial roundups: WhistleOut’s October 1 selection and Slover Digital’s September 27 list for October. Slover says its selections launched, relaunched, or arrived on a new platform since summer 2026, and that it checked listings in late September. Neither list represents every new release, and the selections cover different needs rather than competing as one category.
WhistleOut describes its own picks as hands-on tested; that is its methodology, not an independent test by iTechGuides. Slover Digital is an app developer and discloses that some picks are its own products or a client app. Those relationships are identified below where relevant. Store status and prices may differ by country or change after the sources’ checks.

Gartic Phone: a drawing-and-telephone party game
Gartic Phone is free on the Apple App Store and Google Play, supported by ads, and can also be played on desktop. Players join a group using an invite code or QR code and take turns drawing and interpreting prompts, creating the familiar telephone-game effect. WhistleOut reports a pre-game ad and rates it 4.5 out of 5; those are that publisher’s assessment and observation, not an iTechGuides test.

Best new apps for getting organized
Stuff: quick task capture on iPhone
Stuff is a free iPhone to-do list app that requires iOS 26 or later. WhistleOut describes it as a simple, Notes-like task list rather than a full calendar planner. It supports voice task entry through Siri and scanning task details from paper documents with the camera. Optional Extra Stuff is listed at $2.99 per month, $29.99 per year, or $119.99 for lifetime access; check the current in-app or store price before subscribing or buying.
ættlíf: household chores and routines
ættlíf is a free household chore and routine app for iPhone and Android, with ads and an account requirement. WhistleOut describes it as a system for coordinating household tasks. One WhistleOut staff writer says they used it daily; that is the writer’s reported experience, not a general finding about how well it will suit every household.

The article says an Android waitlist is available, so this roundup does not treat it as an Android release.

Notability: now listed for Android as well as Apple devices
Slover Digital reports that Notability’s Android beta opened in April 2026 and that the app subsequently reached stable release. It describes the Android app as free to start with paid plans, and highlights typed or handwritten notes, flashcards, and quizzes. A tablet with stylus support is likely the best fit for handwritten notes, but is not stated as a requirement. Because store availability can change and vary by region, check the current Android listing before relying on it; the September roundup is the basis for its reported stable-release status.

Drunkle Pat is described as a comedy drinking game for iPhone and Apple Watch, but Slover Digital calls it “coming soon” to the App Store. PITCH Roofing: a Florida homeowner tool for PITCH customers
PITCH Roofing is listed as a free iPhone and Android app for Florida homeowners. Slover Digital describes satellite roof measurements, approximate material pricing, 3D design, and project tracking for PITCH customers. What to know before choosing
- Check the platform first. Stuff, Fortissimo, and Pirates are iPhone picks; Gartic Phone, ættl íf, and Whittle are listed for both major mobile platforms. Some other apps are Apple-device-only, while Notability’s Android release should be confirmed in the store.
- Compare how you pay. The list includes free apps with ads, free tiers with optional upgrades, subscriptions, one-time purchases, and per-fax pricing. A listed price may have changed since the late-September store checks.
- Verify availability before planning around a forthcoming app. Drunkle Pat and Android SatisFaxion are described as not yet available on their respective platforms in the cited roundup.
- Treat Sunbird’s security claims cautiously. Slover Digital says Sunbird combines iMessage, RCS, and SMS on Android and requires an Apple ID, but also warns of serious security flaws in the first version. Encryption and server-storage statements in that article are attributed to the company, not independently established here. Do not assume the app provides the same security or privacy as Apple’s own messaging service; review current independent security information and the app’s disclosures before linking an account.
