To update an Astro A40 setup, update the MixAmp Pro TR—not the A40 headset. Connect the MixAmp to a Windows PC or Mac by USB, switch it to PC mode, then follow the firmware prompt in Astro Command Center.
Which part of the Astro A40 setup gets updated?
The firmware procedure applies to the MixAmp Pro TR. The A40 is the headset; it is not the device being updated in this process. Logitech lists MixAmp Pro TR Gen 3 and Gen 4 as supported devices in Astro Command Center.
What you need before you start
- A MixAmp Pro TR Gen 3 or Gen 4 and a Windows PC or Mac.
- A USB cable that connects the MixAmp to the computer. The Gen 4 quick-start guide specifies a Micro-USB connection; use a compatible cable you already have if it establishes the connection.
- Astro Command Center installed or open on the computer.
Logitech’s software page lists Gen 3 and Gen 4 support for both its Windows and Mac versions. That listing does not guarantee identical behavior on every current operating-system configuration.

How to update MixAmp Pro TR firmware
- Install or open Astro Command Center. Get the software through Logitech’s Astro Series software page.
- Connect the MixAmp to your computer over USB. The Gen 4 guide identifies the MixAmp’s computer connection as Micro-USB.
- Switch the MixAmp to PC mode. The power-button LED should be white. If it is red, hold the power button for 3–5 seconds, or until the LED changes from red to white. Logitech Support describes the indicator this way: “Once connected, check to make sure the MixAMp TR is in PC Mode (Power button should be illuminating White).”
- Wait for Astro Command Center to recognize the MixAmp. Logitech says the software will prompt you for the latest firmware after it detects the device. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

If Astro Command Center does not detect the MixAmp
Start with the two connection conditions in Logitech’s instructions: the MixAmp must be connected to the computer over USB and set to PC mode, indicated by a white power-button LED. If the LED is red, hold the button for 3–5 seconds until it turns white, then check whether the software recognizes the device.
If it still does not appear, the cited official guidance does not provide a detailed detection troubleshooting sequence. It also does not specify a universal firmware version, a manual firmware download, or recovery steps for an interrupted or failed update. Do not install an unofficial firmware file or assume a version number based on another owner’s device; consult Logitech support for device-specific help.
