To print the same document twice, open the document’s Print dialog, set Copies to 2, confirm the intended printer, check the preview, and print. The exact position and wording of the control depend on the app and printer.
What “Copies: 2” does
A Copies value of 2 requests two complete runs of the selected print job. For a multi-page document, the Collate option determines whether pages are grouped into complete sets—for example, pages 1–3 followed by pages 1–3—or printed in page groups. Apple describes Collate Sheets as the option for printing the entire document before moving to the next copy. Apple’s Mac printing guide
Set the copy count in your app
Word for Windows
- Select File > Print.
- In the Copies box, enter 2.
- Confirm the selected printer and review the preview and other print options.
- Select Print.

Mac apps
- Open the app’s Print dialog.
- Enter 2 in Copies.
- Check the printer, preview, and any relevant options, such as Collate Sheets.
- Print the job.

Microsoft Edge
- Open the print interface with Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on macOS.
- Set Copies to 2 and verify the selected printer.
- Review the preview and available options, then print.

Chromebook
- Press Ctrl+P to open the print dialog.
- Under Destination, select a compatible printer.
- Look in the dialog for a copy-count control. Its location and availability depend on the interface and printer options shown.
- If available, set the count to 2, review the job, and print.

Copies are not the same as pages per sheet
Copies repeats the print job. Pages per sheet places multiple document pages on one physical sheet; it does not create two complete copies. If the goal is two small repeated items—such as cards—on one sheet, use the publication app’s multiple-copies-per-sheet layout instead of treating it as an ordinary two-copy job. Publisher’s guidance recommends testing alignment on plain paper before using special stock such as labels. Microsoft Publisher help

- Only one copy printed: Return to the originating app’s Print dialog and confirm that Copies is set to 2 before resending the job.
- The job went to the wrong printer: Reopen the print interface and select the intended printer or destination before printing.
- You wanted two reduced items on one sheet: Change the layout to a multiple-copies-per-sheet or equivalent publication setting; the ordinary Copies control repeats the whole job.
Printer-specific controls can be absent or differently named depending on the app, driver, and printer features.
