There is no verified universal “best” WARDOGS preset: the right settings depend on your PC, resolution, and current game build. Start with the game’s published hardware targets, measure performance in a repeatable scene, and change one setting or related group at a time. Keep changes that improve frame delivery without making targets or the surrounding scene harder to read.
Start with the published hardware targets
Valve’s WARDOGS Steam listing gives performance targets for two hardware tiers. They are stated targets, not guarantees for every PC, and they do not establish the performance effect of individual graphics settings.
| Steam target | Listed CPU | Memory | Listed graphics | Rendering target |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Intel Core i5-8600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500 | 16 GB RAM | GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 590 | 1080p Low at 60 FPS using upscaling |
| Recommended | Intel Core i7-12700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | 16 GB RAM | RTX 3070 or Radeon RX 6700 XT | 1440p Medium at 70+ FPS native, or 4K Medium at 60+ FPS using upscaling |
Compare your CPU and GPU with the listed tiers, along with your resolution and rendering mode. If your graphics card is below the minimum tier, begin with lower image-quality settings and a supported upscaling option if available. If your system is near or above the recommended tier but performance is still unsatisfactory, test settings systematically rather than assuming a preset will solve it.
Build a repeatable baseline before changing settings
A comparison is useful only when the conditions are similar. Choose a representative area or type of action, then note your resolution, hardware, game build, rendering mode, and the settings currently in use. Check both how smoothly frames are delivered and whether the image remains readable. A short, repeatable comparison is more informative than relying on memory after changing several options.
#1 Best Overall
- 【INTEGRATED SPEAKERS】Whether you're at work or in the midst of an intense gaming session, our built-in speakers provide rich and seamless audio, all while keeping your desk clutter-free.
- 【EASY ON THE EYES】 Protect your eyes and enhance your comfort with Blue-Light Shift technology. This feature reduces harmful blue light emissions from your screen, helping to alleviate eye strain during long hours of use and promoting healthier viewing habits.
- 【WIDEN YOUR PERSPECTIVE】Our sleek minimal bezel design ensures undivided attention. The nearly bezel-free display seamlessly connects in a dual monitor arrangement, delivering an unobstructed view that lets you focus on more at once, completely distraction-free.
The third-party WARDOGS settings guide supports using a baseline and adjusting one setting group at a time. It does not provide controlled per-setting measurements, so it cannot establish that a particular shadow, detail, or upscaling value produces a specific FPS gain.
Change settings one step at a time
- Record the starting point. Write down your current settings and observe performance and visibility in your chosen scene.
- Pick one control or closely related group. Avoid changing multiple unrelated options at once; otherwise, you will not know which change helped or hurt.
- Repeat the same comparison. Use the same resolution, rendering mode, scene, and type of action, and judge both smoothness and visual clarity.
- Keep, undo, or retest. Keep the change only if it improves your actual goal without making the image less usable. Revert it if the result is worse, unclear, or inconsistent.
- Recheck after updates. Record the game build because updates can change settings or their behavior; verify available options in the current build.
When weighing two choices, use the same criteria each time: frame delivery in comparable play conditions, image clarity at your resolution and display size, how your hardware compares with the published tiers, and whether both tests used the same game build and rendering option.

- QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadow for added depth - making every scene feel more vivid and realistic
- The 180Hz refresh rate minimizes lag for gameplay with ultra-smooth action. Plus, the 1ms response time helps capture your moves in real-time, allowing you to react fast for gaming precision
- AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
- Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort
Choose a mode for your hardware, not a promise
A surfaced third-party guide describes Potato Mode and Overkill Mode as options intended for different hardware classes. That distinction does not make either mode a universally best competitive setting, nor does it promise a particular frame rate. Check whether the modes are available in your current build and compare their results on your own PC. The guide does not establish universal settings values or controlled FPS gains for either mode.
What to do when a tweak does not help
- The result changes from one run to another: repeat the comparison under more similar conditions before deciding. Anecdotal community reports vary by PC and test conditions, so an isolated result is not a dependable performance guarantee. See the community performance discussion as anecdotal context, not proof of a specific tweak.
- Performance remains below your target: confirm the resolution and rendering mode, then continue testing settings one at a time. The published requirements do not identify a universal bottleneck or prove that a particular component upgrade is necessary.
- Visibility gets worse: undo the change even if performance seems better. A higher frame rate is not a useful trade if important visual information becomes difficult to distinguish.
No independent controlled benchmark establishes universal WARDOGS settings or a reliable FPS increase from a specific tweak. Treat community suggestions as reversible experiments, not guaranteed fixes. Because game updates can change the available options or their behavior, check the Steam listing and in-game settings again after a major update.
