The best coffee maker with a built-in grinder is the one that fits your serving routine, counter space, and appetite for controls—not simply the one with the most settings. For an SCA-listed option with both single-serve and carafe use, consider the Café Specialty Grind & Brew. For a documented adjustable grinder and several ways to serve, compare the Breville Grind Control. The picks below are feature-based comparisons, not hands-on test rankings.
What to compare before choosing a grind-and-brew coffee maker
A built-in grinder combines grinding and brewing in one appliance, so you can use whole beans without a separate grinder. The tradeoff is that the grinder becomes part of the brewer’s cleaning and maintenance workflow, and you cannot replace or upgrade the two components independently.

Start with serving size and format
Decide whether you usually brew one mug, fill a travel cup, or make a pot. Manufacturers do not use “cup” uniformly: BLACK+DECKER defines one serving as approximately five ounces and says the amount varies with brewing technique. Compare that definition with the number of people you serve; a listed cup count is not necessarily a standard mug size.
Look beyond the grinder label
Check whether the manufacturer documents burrs, adjustable grind settings, grinder-off or pre-ground operation, and how accessible the grinder is for cleaning. Then compare brew-strength controls, scheduling, brew styles, and app features. A grinder being built in does not by itself establish how adjustable or easy to maintain it is.

- Note: 1)Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to inadequate pressure for a proper brew. 2)It is important to note that the amount of espresso extracted will vary depending on the grind size and amount and reprogramming may be needed when the size and amount are adjusted. Please refer to user guide or user manual or user guide (provided below in PDF) before first use

Measure the available space
Check the brewer’s height, width, and depth against your counter and the clearance beneath cabinets. GE lists the Profile Smart Grind and Brew, model P7CGAAS6TBB, at 16.4 inches high, 7.5 inches wide, and 12.30 inches deep. Confirm dimensions for the exact model and finish you are considering.

GE Profile Smart Grind and Brew: check the exact model
The GE product page identifies model P7CGAAS6TBB and gives its dimensions, while the SCA lists the GE Profile Smart Grind and Brew model family with a 2.6-liter capacity. Match the SKU on the appliance listing to the product page and the SCA entry rather than assuming every GE version or finish has identical specifications.
Breville Grind Control: adjustable grinding and serving flexibility
Breville documents stainless steel burrs, an adjustable grinder, programmable auto-start, and several output formats. Homes & Gardens reports that its testing found the adjustable grind and eight strength settings useful, while identifying cleaning and size as drawbacks. Those are that publication’s observations, not independent testing for this guide.

- 2 BREW STYLES: Classic or Rich, each brew is flavorful and never bitter with custom brew strengths.
- 12-CUP GLASS CARAFE: Brew small or large batches of coffee – perfect for day to day or entertaining.
- HOTTER BREWING TECHNOLOGY: Delivers even saturation and temperature control for ultra-flavorful coffee.
- SMALL BATCH FUNCTION: Ensure your coffee is never diluted when brewing a small batch (1-4 cups).
- WAKE UP TO HOT COFFEE: 24-hour programmable delay brew allows you to prepare your brew up to a day in advance.
De’Longhi TrueBrew: multiple sizes and brew styles
Its six listed sizes and five styles give buyers more choices than a simple strength selector. “Espresso-style” is the manufacturer’s name for a listed drip-machine style; it should not be confused with a dedicated espresso machine.
BLACK+DECKER Mill+Brew: grinder-off brewing
The grinder-off setting and programmable schedule offer a different kind of flexibility: you can use the machine without grinding beans for that brew. Its glass carafe and approximate five-ounce serving definition also make it easier to interpret the nominal 12-cup capacity.

How to interpret SCA certification
The Specialty Coffee Association’s Certified Home Equipment page lists Café Specialty Grind & Brew and GE Profile Smart Grind and Brew as “Certified 2023.” The year refers to the listing’s certification year, not a guarantee that every later variant is included or that a model’s status cannot change. The SCA says equipment is evaluated at a third-party testing centre and that certification includes a three-year licensing period. Check the current listing for the exact model before treating certification as a buying criterion: SCA Certified Home Equipment.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhen a separate grinder and brewer may suit you better
An all-in-one removes the step of moving ground coffee from a separate grinder to a brewer. A separate grinder and filter machine can give you more flexibility to replace or upgrade either component without changing the other. Neither setup guarantees better coffee; choose based on whether convenience or component flexibility matters more in your routine.
