Gemini Live can help you capture ideas in Google Keep by voice, but it works through a connected Google account and is not available to every account yet. You can also use Gemini Apps to create notes and lists, add items to an existing list, and bring Keep content into a conversation. Here’s how to set it up, what each option does, and what to check before relying on it.
What Gemini Live can do with Google Keep
When Google Keep is available as a Connected App in Gemini Live, you can speak naturally to capture information without switching to a typed prompt. Gemini Apps can create and show notes and lists in Keep, add items to an existing list, and use Keep content in a conversation. For example, you can ask Gemini to pull ingredients from a recipe and add them to a named shopping list. The exact action depends on the prompt and the connected-app features available to your account. Google’s Gemini Apps help describes the Keep interactions; Google’s Gemini Live help lists Keep among Live Connected Apps.
This is best understood as a voice-first way to direct Gemini Apps to work with Keep, rather than a guarantee that every Keep task can be completed hands-free. Google says Live Connected Apps support is rolling out gradually, so Keep may not appear for every eligible user at once.

In Gemini Apps, connect Google Workspace. Google’s instructions and the list of supported app connections are in Connect the Google Workspace app to Gemini Apps.

Check that Keep Activity is on. Google lists this as a requirement for the documented Keep interaction; Workspace must also be connected.

Open Gemini Live and check whether Keep is available among Connected Apps. The feature is subject to gradual rollout, and account type affects which apps can be used.

Ask for one clear action, such as creating a note, saving useful information from the conversation, or adding items to a named list. Then open Keep and verify the saved note or list.
For work or school accounts, Google currently identifies Calendar, Keep, and Tasks as the available apps for Live chats. That is a narrower list than the broader Connected Apps experience and may not match what a personal account sees.
Choose between Gemini Live and Keep’s voice-note feature
These are related but separate workflows. Gemini Live starts in a Gemini conversation and can direct Gemini to work with connected Keep content. Keep’s built-in voice note generation starts inside the Keep app on Android: you speak a note, list, idea, or editing instruction, review the generated result, and tap Done to save it. Google documents the latter feature separately at Generate notes with your voice in Google Keep.

Google’s separate Gemini-in-Keep help also describes feature-specific eligibility: some listed AI-in-Keep features require Google AI Pro, Google AI Ultra, or a Pixel mobile device, with requirements varying by feature. Do not treat those requirements as a universal prerequisite for every Gemini Live or connected-notes workflow. See Google’s feature-specific Keep and Gemini guidance for current details.

Make voice capture reliable

Name the destination list when you want to add items to an existing list; otherwise, ask Gemini to create a new list or note.

Give the content and action together—for example, ask Gemini to extract ingredients from a recipe and add them to a specific list.

Review the result in Keep, especially when Gemini has been running in the background. Google says Gemini cannot undo a note created while Gemini Live was in the background, so make corrections directly in Keep if needed.

For decisions or details that matter, verify the saved content rather than assuming the generated note is complete or correct.

Keep Activity is off: Turn it on for the documented Keep interaction.

The accounts do not match: Make sure Gemini is signed in to the account that has the relevant Keep content.

Keep is not available in Live yet: Google says Connected Apps support is rolling out gradually. The available apps can also differ by account type.

The request exceeds supported actions: Google notes that some actions in notes and lists apps cannot be performed. If a request fails, try a simpler create, show, or add-items action and finish edits in Keep.
Check your notes before you rely on them
Google warns that Gemini can provide inaccurate or outdated information. Treat generated notes as drafts when accuracy matters: inspect names, quantities, dates, and list items in Keep, then edit them there. This is particularly important for background Live use, because Gemini cannot undo a note created in that state.
