Several headphone brands can compete with Bose in the right category, but not every model is a Bose-style travel headphone. Nothing, Beyerdynamic, and Soundcore offer wireless models with active noise cancellation (ANC); Sivga, FiiO, and Meze Audio focus on wired listening; Grado’s open-back wireless headphones suit quiet rooms; House of Marley offers simple wireless listening without ANC; and Audio-Technica bridges wireless use with a wired option.

Bose remains a strong reference for comfort and noise cancellation, according to What Hi-Fi?’s comparison. The nine brands below compete in different ways—through design, sound, repair-friendly construction, or particular features—not by matching Bose across the board.

Which of these brands is right for you?

Listening need Brands to consider Main trade-off
Wireless travel listening with ANC Nothing, Beyerdynamic, Soundcore Performance and comfort vary by model; none should be assumed to match Bose in every respect.
Wired listening at home Sivga, FiiO, Meze Audio No Bluetooth or ANC on the models described.
Open-back sound in a quiet room Grado Sound leaks out and outside noise gets in.
Basic wireless listening without ANC House of Marley No ANC or companion-app sound customization.
Wireless and wired use across everyday and audio-work setups Audio-Technica No ANC; isolation is passive.

These are use-case groupings based on the models and features reported by SlashGear, not a ranking of entire brands. A useful comparison also considers comfort, fit, connectivity, audio quality, features, and price—the kinds of criteria TechRadar uses in its wireless-headphone coverage. Personal taste and listening habits matter, too; RTINGS notes that no headphone brand is perfect for every listener.

Wireless headphones with ANC

Nothing: design-forward features

Nothing Headphone (1) stands out with transparent panels and physical controls. SlashGear lists adaptive ANC, multipoint connectivity, AAC and LDAC codec support, an eight-band EQ, and IP52 protection. Nothing claims up to 35 hours of battery life with ANC on and up to 80 hours with ANC off; treat both as manufacturer figures, not guaranteed everyday runtimes.

  • Packaging Component: Package include a Foldable Deep Bass Headphone, 3.5MM Audio Cable, Type-c Charging Cable and User Manual.

The compromises are practical as well as sonic: the earcups do not fold, and the SlashGear review found the default sound dark. Consider it if its design and feature set appeal to you, but audition or adjust the EQ if you prefer a brighter presentation.

Beyerdynamic: travel features with a studio-minded approach

The Aventho 300 combines adaptive ANC and multipoint with several Bluetooth codecs and Dolby Atmos head tracking. Beyerdynamic claims up to 50 hours with ANC enabled. SlashGear reports reviewers found the sound clear and even-handed and the padding comfortable, while noting that background noise could enter calls and the clamp may feel tight.

It is a plausible Bose alternative if you want wireless travel features and a more even-handed sound profile. Fit is personal, so the reported clamp is worth checking before you commit.

  • MULTIPOINT CONNECTION: Quickly switch between two devices at once.

Soundcore: a foldable feature set

The Space One Pro includes adaptive ANC, multipoint, LDAC, a 3.5 mm input, app-based EQ, and folding hinges. Soundcore claims up to 40 hours with ANC and 60 hours without it. SlashGear’s cited review found its ANC useful in an office but less effective against traffic and wind; calls were decent rather than exceptional.

This is the most feature-packed choice in this group on paper, including the option to listen through a cable. If your main problem is noise outdoors, do not assume its ANC will block traffic or wind as well as it handles office noise.

Wired headphones for home listening

Sivga: distinctive materials and replaceable parts

Sivga makes closed-back, open-back, and planar magnetic wired models. SlashGear describes wooden earcups, metal hardware, detachable cables, and replaceable parts across the range. The Robin is a closed-back rosewood example with a 3.5 mm connection.

The Robin is a design-led option for home listening, not a travel substitute for Bose: it has no ANC. Sivga’s mix of construction and headphone types makes the model’s specific design more important than the brand name alone.

FiiO: a wired setup that can grow

The FT1 is a closed-back wired headphone supplied with 3.5 mm and balanced 4.4 mm cables and wooden earcups. SlashGear describes it as usable with ordinary devices, while leaving room for a listener to add a DAC or amplifier later.

Its appeal is a straightforward wired start with an upgrade path. The trade-off is just as straightforward: no Bluetooth and no ANC.

Meze Audio: repair-friendly construction and warm tuning

The 99 Classics pairs wooden earcups with a metal frame, detachable cable, and replaceable earpads. SlashGear says it can be driven by ordinary devices and has a warm, bass-forward tuning.

That sound may suit listeners who enjoy warmth and prominent bass, but it is not the pick for someone seeking a clinical studio-monitor presentation. Replaceable parts are a useful construction feature; they do not make it a wireless or noise-cancelling model.

Open-back sound: Grado

The Grado GW100x is an open-back headphone that supports Bluetooth and a 3.5 mm cable. Grado states a 46-hour battery life at half volume. Because the earcups are open, sound escapes and outside noise enters; ANC is absent. That makes the GW100x a better fit for a quiet room than a commute, regardless of its wireless connection.

Simple wireless listening: House of Marley

The Positive Vibration Frequency Wireless has wood accents and a stated 34-hour battery claim. It does not have ANC or companion-app customization. SlashGear’s cited review praised its vocal presentation and light build, but found the bass loose and prominent and call quality only adequate.

Choose it for uncomplicated wireless listening if those limitations suit your priorities. It is not an ANC alternative for blocking airplane, road, or office noise.

A wireless-and-wired hybrid: Audio-Technica

The ATH-M50xBT2 adds Bluetooth, multipoint, and AAC and LDAC support to an M50x-style design, while retaining a 3.5 mm cable. It has no ANC and relies on passive isolation. SlashGear cites reviewer measurements of nearly 65 hours of battery life, separate from the manufacturer’s 50-hour claim; the nearly 65-hour figure is a review result, not the stated manufacturer rating.

This model makes sense if you want to switch between wireless everyday listening and a wired connection for audio work or other compatible equipment. If active noise cancellation is essential, look elsewhere in this list.

How to choose without treating every model as a Bose substitute

  • Start with where you listen. For travel or a noisy office, focus on the three ANC models here: Nothing Headphone (1), Beyerdynamic Aventho 300, and Soundcore Space One Pro. For a quiet room, the wired options or Grado’s open-back GW100x may be more relevant.
  • Check whether you need ANC or passive isolation. ANC is a feature of the three wireless models above; wired models, the GW100x, House of Marley’s Positive Vibration Frequency Wireless, and the ATH-M50xBT2 do not offer it. Open-back headphones such as the GW100x are especially unsuitable when you need to block surrounding sound.
  • Match the sound to your preference. The 99 Classics is described as warm and bass-forward; the Aventho 300 as clear and even-handed. The review of Nothing Headphone (1) found its default tuning dark. These descriptions are starting points, not guarantees of what you will enjoy.
  • Check fit and portability. Clamp can feel tight on the Aventho 300, and Nothing Headphone (1) does not fold. The Space One Pro has folding hinges. Try a model on when possible, since comfort depends on your fit and wearing habits.
  • Verify device compatibility and battery claims. Codec support, wired inputs, and battery figures differ by model. Battery life is stated by manufacturers for some products and reported by reviewers for others; those figures are not directly interchangeable and actual runtime can vary.
  • Check local price and availability. Both can change by region and over time, so compare current listings where you live rather than relying on a fixed price ranking.

Bose remains a compelling benchmark for comfortable headphones and strong noise cancellation, but the right alternative depends on the job. What Hi-Fi? also identifies Sony, Sennheiser, and Bowers & Wilkins among current Bose rivals; the nine picks here are a different mix of design-led, wired, open-back, and feature-specific options.
