No—TV power boards are not universally interchangeable. Use a replacement only when its part number is specified for your exact TV model or an authoritative compatibility listing explicitly confirms it. A board that looks similar or has connectors that fit is not enough to establish compatibility.
Why TV power boards are not universal
Power boards are selected for particular television models and variants. In a Sony service-manual parts list, the KDL-32CX520 and KDL-40CX520 have different power-board assembly numbers. That example shows why matching only the brand or screen size is not sufficient; it does not establish a rule for other brands or models. Sony service-manual parts information
Service manuals can also identify safety-critical components for which the specified part number matters. Sony’s KDL-46CX520 service manual says, “The components identified by shading and ! mark are critical for safety. Replace only with part number specified.” Its KDL-32EX725 manual likewise says critical parts must use the specified number to help prevent electric shock, fire, or other hazards. How to check whether a replacement fits
- Record the complete TV model. Use the full model string from the set’s label, including any suffix or regional designation. A model name without its variant details may not be specific enough to check parts compatibility.
- Read the number on the installed board. Compare its printed part or assembly number with the number listed for your exact TV in the applicable service manual or a compatibility listing.
- Check an authoritative parts reference. Prefer a part number listed for the exact model in the service documentation or a seller listing that explicitly names that model. Sony’s manuals direct technicians to specified part numbers for identified safety-critical components.
- Verify revision and region details. If the board number differs, ask the manufacturer, an authorized parts source, or a qualified repair technician to confirm whether the proposed substitution is approved. The cited sources do not establish general rules for cross-revision substitutions.
Do not treat appearance, connector count, voltage labels, screen size, or a broad claim such as “fits this brand” as a compatibility test on its own. None establishes that a board is approved for your particular television.

A no-power symptom does not prove the power board failed
A TV that will not turn on may have a fault elsewhere. Sony’s XBR-70X850B repair manual includes a no-power troubleshooting flowchart that considers the power supply alongside other system boards. It is an example of model-specific diagnosis, not a procedure to apply to other televisions. Its original release date is April 28, 2014, so it does not establish current parts availability. Have the fault diagnosed before buying a board. Live electrical measurements and internal repair can be hazardous; if you lack appropriate electronics repair training, use a qualified technician.

A TV power board is part of mains-powered equipment. Unplug the television before it is opened, but do not assume unplugging makes every internal component safe to touch. Follow the safety instructions in the service documentation for the exact model, and do not bypass specified components or substitute an unverified part.
An iFixit community guide for the Samsung LNT4669FX-XAA tells readers to unplug the television and note connector placement during that model’s replacement procedure.
