Neither RingCentral nor 8×8 is a clear winner for every business. RingCentral publishes US RingEX list prices, while 8×8 directs buyers to sales for X Series pricing, so the public figures do not support a reliable price verdict. Compare written quotes built around the same users, locations, calling destinations, contract term, and feature requirements; then test the workflows your team actually needs.
How RingCentral and 8×8 differ
Both vendors offer cloud-based business communications, but the available plan information is presented differently. RingCentral’s US RingEX page lists per-user prices and tier features. 8×8’s X Series page describes plans such as X2 and X4 but asks prospective customers to contact sales for pricing. That makes a needs-based comparison more useful than choosing by brand-level claims or headline price.
RingCentral’s comparison page and 8×8’s comparison page each promote their own strengths. Treat claims on those pages as vendor positions, not independent findings, and verify specific functions in a demonstration and in the applicable plan and contract documents: RingCentral’s comparison and 8×8’s comparison.
Compare the available pricing carefully
RingCentral lists these US RingEX prices per user per month. Monthly billing costs more than annual billing on the page; check the current offer and terms before purchase because discounts, taxes, and contract conditions may change the amount paid.
#1 Best Overall
- [5" Color Base Display for ease of menu operation] - Manage your communication with this ultra-clear 5" color base display. Soft keys on the side & bottom of the screen make it easy to access the functions of the phone. The extra-large display makes it easy to operate the menu and provides clear viewing of the features.
- [Personalized Feature Shortcuts] - Assign one-touch shortcuts on the large base display for quick access to the most important features like contact, messages, call history, timer, and more.
- [Conference and Intercom] - Streamline your communication experience with conference calling between an outside line and up to 4 cordless handsets, along with intercom functionality between handsets and the base unit.
- [Unsurpassed Range with DECT 6.0] - Experience the best in long-range coverage and clarity, provided by a unique antenna design and advances in noise-filtering technology.
- [Smart Call Blocker and One-touch Block] - Say goodbye to unwanted calls. Robocalls on your landline are automatically blocked from ever ringing through—even the first time. Instantly blacklist any incoming number with one touch. Store up to 1000 names and numbers to your block list.
| RingCentral US RingEX plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing |
|---|---|---|
| Essentials | $29.99 per user/month | $19.99 per user/month |
| Standard | $34.99 per user/month | $24.99 per user/month |
| Premium | $44.99 per user/month | $34.99 per user/month |
| Ultimate | $59.99 per user/month | $49.99 per user/month |
These are the prices listed on RingCentral’s US RingEX plans and pricing page, not a guarantee of the final quote.
8×8’s X Series product page does not publish comparable X2 or X4 list prices; it directs buyers to sales. A separate 8×8-hosted cloud call-center page gives example prices of $44 per user/month for X4, $85 for X6, and $140 for X8. Those examples appear in a contact-center context and do not establish a current, universal X Series offer. Do not treat them as equivalent to RingCentral’s published RingEX rates; request an up-to-date quote for the actual product and deployment. See 8×8’s X Series page and its cloud call-center page.

- Billing cadence, contract term, volume assumptions, taxes, regulatory fees, and any implementation or add-on charges.
- Required features, support level, onboarding, and any hardware or migration assistance.
Compare the resulting total cost and contractual obligations—not just a per-user figure. The published RingCentral rates and 8×8’s sales-quoted pricing are different kinds of evidence.
Match plan features to the work your team does
Start with the capabilities employees and administrators will use, then confirm which tier includes them in your region and quote. The vendors’ published descriptions provide useful questions for a demo, but they do not establish that every feature is available in every market or configuration.

- Which calling destinations are included, and what rates or limits apply outside the bundle?
- Do you need fax, SMS, automatic recording, advanced call handling, or multi-site administration—and which quoted tier includes each?
- How many people must join a video meeting, and does the stated participant capacity fit your actual meeting pattern?
- Will receptionists or supervisors need analytics or live call monitoring controls?
- Which support hours, onboarding services, and escalation paths are included in the written offer?
Check integrations beyond the headline count
RingCentral says it offers more than 330 integrations across more than 200 companies, as well as APIs for voice, SMS/MMS, messaging, video, fax, data management, and system configuration. The counts are vendor-reported and depend on how integrations are counted; they do not show whether a specific workflow is supported at the plan level you are considering. Details are on RingCentral’s product information page.
For either provider, identify the exact CRM, help desk, identity, and other business tools your team uses. In a demo, verify whether the connection is native or API-based, which data moves in each direction, what administrators can manage, and whether the integration requires a particular plan or add-on. A long integration list is not a substitute for confirming your workflow.

Put coverage and reliability claims in context
8×8’s comparison page claims coverage in 55+ countries for full PSTN replacement and a unified 99.999% uptime SLA. These are 8×8’s claims, not independent measurements of service for every product or customer. Ask which countries and services the coverage statement applies to, and review the actual SLA for exclusions, measurement scope, and service-credit remedies: 8×8’s comparison page.
RingCentral’s comparison page promotes advantages including onboarding, toll-free minutes, SMS and fax, integrations, analytics, and collaboration. 8×8’s page emphasizes unified communications and contact center, reach, Microsoft Teams integration, and reliability. These are marketing positions from the respective vendors; validate only the capabilities relevant to your deployment and get commitments that matter to you into the contract.
Test the deployment, not just the feature list
A phone system can look suitable on paper yet create friction during migration or administration. Use demonstrations and quote review to resolve details that depend on your current numbers, locations, devices, and support needs:
Best Value
- Hybrid Corded Base Plus Cordless Handset: Combines a reliable corded base that works during power outages in Line-Power mode with the mobility of one DECT 6.0 cordless handset for home or office use
- 22-Minute Digital Answering Machine: Records up to 22 minutes of incoming messages, outgoing announcements, and memos with easy access and management from the base, handset, or remotely
- Advanced Call Blocking: Blocks unwanted calls from robocallers and telemarketers by saving up to 150 names and numbers directly from the handset or base for a quieter home environment
- Large Backlit Displays and Easy Buttons: Features extra-large 3.5-inch backlit base display and 2-inch handset screen with high-contrast text for clear Caller ID viewing, plus lighted keypad and big buttons for simple dialing
- Full-Duplex Speakerphone on Base and Handset: Enables natural, hands-free conversations without cutting in or out on both the base unit and cordless handset for multitasking and family calls
- Migration and number porting: Ask for the steps, responsibilities, timing, and any service-continuity plan for moving existing numbers.
- Emergency calling: Confirm how emergency calling is configured and supported for each office and remote-work location.
- Administration: Have an administrator demonstrate user setup, location management, call routing changes, and reporting.
- Endpoints: If you plan to use desk or conference phones, confirm the exact model’s compatibility, provisioning process, and support. RingCentral’s materials refer to desk and conference phones, but the available information does not establish a particular handset as compatible with both providers. RingCentral product details are at its plans and product information page.
- Support and remedies: Identify support hours, escalation steps, SLA exclusions, and any service credits in the documents that will govern your service.
Which one should you choose?
Choose based on the requirements your team can verify, not on an unqualified claim that one provider is universally cheaper or better.
- RingCentral merits a closer look if published US plan pricing, listed RingEX tier inclusions, or its stated integration and API offering align with your requirements. Verify the final price, regional availability, and workflow depth.
- 8×8 merits a closer look if its quoted X Series configuration fits your calling geography, conferencing needs, or receptionist and supervisor requirements. Confirm the current quote, plan inclusions, coverage, and SLA scope.
- Request demos from both if your decision depends on integrations, migration, emergency calling, endpoint support, or multi-location administration. Ask each vendor to demonstrate the same scenarios and provide written answers.
For a fair decision, score each written proposal against the same must-haves, total cost, deployment plan, and contract terms. If a feature or commitment is important, do not rely on a comparison-page claim alone.
