To get a Ukrainian IP address, connect to a VPN server or virtual location listed as Ukraine. Install the provider’s app, choose Ukraine, and connect; websites will generally see the VPN’s exit IP instead of your ordinary public IP. Check whether the location is physically in Ukraine or virtual, then verify the IP and test the particular site or service you need.
How a VPN gives you a Ukrainian IP address
A VPN routes your internet traffic through a server or virtual location offered by the provider. When the connection is active, websites generally see the VPN exit IP rather than your usual public IP. This changes the apparent network location; it does not change your physical location or guarantee access to every site, app, or stream.
The basic process is the same across providers: choose one that lists Ukraine, install its app, sign in, select Ukraine, and connect. Provider availability, server arrangements, plans, and platform access can change, so check current details before relying on a particular location.

Steps to connect to a Ukrainian VPN location
- Choose a provider that lists Ukraine. Check whether the location is physical or virtual and whether the provider supports your devices and, if needed, your router.
- Install the provider’s VPN app and sign in. Use the official app for your operating system, or configure a compatible VPN client using the provider’s instructions.
- Select Ukraine and connect. The location may be labeled Ukraine or Kyiv. Wait for the app to confirm the connection before opening the site you want to use.
- Verify the apparent IP location. Use an IP-location check and confirm that it reports a Ukrainian IP. Location databases can differ, so also test the specific website or service you need.
- Disconnect when finished if you no longer want VPN routing. Your traffic will then use your usual internet connection and public IP again.
Is the VPN server physically in Ukraine?
Not necessarily. A provider may offer a Ukrainian IP through a virtual location whose physical server is in another country. If physical hosting matters to you, read the provider’s location description rather than relying only on the country name in the app.

These descriptions are not a ranking or independent test. For any provider, confirm that Ukraine is currently available to your account, read its location and plan details, and check whether the target service works from that connection.
Using a VPN on several devices through a router
If you want devices on your Wi-Fi network to use the same VPN tunnel, router setup may be an option. It requires a router that supports VPN-client configuration and a provider with a Ukrainian location. Follow the provider’s router instructions; for example, Proton describes installing its VPN on a router so connected devices receive VPN protection. [Proton VPN router setup instructions]

Router support and setup vary by model and provider. Confirm compatibility before changing router settings, and use the provider’s instructions for the specific device rather than assuming every router can run a VPN client.

- Ukraine availability: Confirm that the location is currently offered for your account and plan.
- Physical or virtual location: Check where the provider says the server is hosted if that distinction matters to you.
- Device and router support: Make sure the app or configuration works with the devices you intend to use.
- Plan limits: Check whether Ukraine access, streaming-related features, or other capabilities are restricted on a free plan.
- Privacy evidence: Review the provider’s privacy policy and any available independent audits rather than treating broad privacy statements as proof.
- Your target service: Test the specific website, app, or stream. Provider statements about streaming access are not guarantees, and platform behavior can change.
If the site still does not recognize a Ukrainian location
A Ukrainian VPN IP does not guarantee that a platform will accept the connection or identify it as being in Ukraine. First, confirm that the VPN app says it is connected and that an IP-location check reports Ukraine. If it does, but the target service still fails, its access rules or VPN detection may be the issue. Check the provider’s current troubleshooting guidance and the service’s own requirements; do not assume that changing locations will reliably bypass a restriction.

Does this establish whether VPN use is legal in Ukraine?
It does not establish current Ukrainian legal requirements. Provider pages may make general claims about legality, but they are not a substitute for current Ukrainian laws or official guidance. If legality affects your use, consult an authoritative Ukrainian government or legal source.
