To get a public IP address that geolocation services associate with Sierra Leone, connect to a VPN location listed for Sierra Leone, then check the resulting IP with a geolocation lookup. VPN location lists can change, and an IP lookup label does not guarantee that a particular website will treat your connection as being in Sierra Leone.
What a Sierra Leonean IP address means
A public IP address is the address websites and online services can see for your internet connection. For this task, “Sierra Leonean” means that an IP geolocation service associates the address with Sierra Leone; it does not mean changing your device’s region, account country, or email address.
A VPN routes your traffic through a selected VPN location, so the destination site sees the VPN’s public IP rather than your usual connection’s IP. The IP’s country association depends on geolocation records and network registration, not just the country name shown in an app.

Check the provider’s current location directory or app before choosing a service. NordVPN’s server directory listed Sierra Leone as a one-city location when checked on October 7, 2026. That is a provider listing, not confirmation of a physical data center, a particular city, or availability on every plan. Check the NordVPN server directory for its current listing.

A listed location can be virtual: the provider may assign an IP registered to the selected country while operating the server hardware elsewhere. PIA explains that for some locations the registered IP country differs from the server’s physical country in its September 29, 2026 article about virtual server locations. ExpressVPN also describes physical and virtual locations in its server-location explanation. Neither source identifies the physical or virtual status of NordVPN’s Sierra Leone listing.
Connect and check the public IP
- Install the VPN provider’s app for the device you plan to use, then sign in. App availability and interface labels differ by provider and device.
- Open the location list and select Sierra Leone, if it is currently available to you.
- Connect, then visit an IP lookup service and check both the public IP and its reported country. IPinfo’s sample IP record illustrates the kinds of location and network fields a lookup may show: it associates the sample address with Freetown, Western Area, Sierra Leone, and AS37449/ONLIME SL LIMITED. This is an example record, not a permanent address or a tested VPN endpoint.
- If the lookup still shows your usual country, reconnect and check again. If it continues, contact the provider and confirm that the Sierra Leone location is available and selected.
IP geolocation is an approximate database association. IPinfo’s Sierra Leone network directory provides network context, but neither it nor another lookup establishes how every website will classify an address.

If a website still detects another country or blocks you
A lookup showing Sierra Leone is a useful check, not a universal acceptance signal. Websites may rely on their own location checks, account details, or other signals, and their treatment of VPN connections can differ. A geolocation result alone cannot promise access to a bank, streaming service, or any other site.
