Philips Smart TVs do not all use the same reset steps. Check your TV’s full model number, then follow the instructions for that model and platform. A reset of picture and sound settings is not necessarily the same as a full factory reset, which can erase personal information and require setup again.
Find your Philips TV model number first
Look for the model and serial numbers on the packaging label or on the TV’s type label, typically on the back or bottom. Use the full model number to find the matching Philips support page or user manual. Philips manuals also point to the TV’s Help area for the manual, troubleshooting, factory settings, and reinstall options. Philips user manual
Use the reset instructions for your exact model
Menu names and available reset choices vary across Philips model families. The following menu sequence is documented for three older models only: 50PF7220A/37, 42PF7220A/37, and 42PF9730A/37. Do not assume it applies to another Philips Smart TV.

- Press MENU.
- Move down to SETTINGS and press right twice.
- Move down to RESET AV SETTINGS.
- Move right to START NOW, then press OK.
- Press MENU to exit.
Philips describes this as a factory settings reset for those listed models. Check the model-specific Philips reset instructions before using the sequence.

Know what kind of reset you are choosing
Picture and sound settings reset
A limited reset may restore only picture and audio settings. On the Philips Roku TV platform documented in its manual, this is a separate option from resetting everything. The exact wording and menu location depend on the TV’s model and software. Philips-hosted Roku TV manual
Full factory reset
In that Roku TV manual, a full factory reset returns the TV settings to their original state and removes personally identifiable information. Afterward, the owner must repeat Guided Setup, reconnect the TV to the internet, relink the Roku account, reload streaming channels, and configure live TV and inputs again. This description applies to the Roku TV documentation cited here; check your own model’s manual for its reset effects.

Try a restart only when you need to reboot
Restarting is not a factory reset. Philips gives a restart path of Settings > About > Restart in Safe Mode guidance for listed models. Philips also warns that holding OK for more than two seconds may offer a Safe Mode reboot. These are limited, model-specific troubleshooting instructions, not universal steps for every Philips TV. If you cannot open the TV menus
The instructions cited here do not establish a universal button combination for resetting Philips TVs when their menus are inaccessible. Check the manual or support page for the exact model instead of trying an unverified button sequence. Philips advises owners: “Do not attempt to repair the TV yourself.” Its manual directs users to Philips TV support for troubleshooting and repair assistance. Philips user manual
