To install AVG Business Antivirus on one Windows PC, first decide whether it will be managed locally or through an AVG Business Console. For a locally managed PC, download AVG’s business installer, choose online or offline setup, run it, select the protection components, and activate your subscription. For a managed PC, use the installer and deployment steps in the Cloud Console or On-Premise Console instead.
Choose the installation path
| Setup path | Use it when | Where to begin |
|---|---|---|
| Unmanaged installation | You will manage this PC locally rather than through a console. | Get the business installer and follow AVG’s unmanaged installation instructions. |
| Cloud Console | The endpoint should be managed in AVG Business Cloud Console. | Add the endpoint and download or send its installer from the console; see AVG’s managed installation instructions. |
| On-Premise Console | The organization manages endpoints through an On-Premise Console. | Use the console’s device-add workflow and choose an EXE or MSI deployment method as appropriate; see AVG’s device instructions. |
These are different deployment models, not interchangeable installer choices. A single locally managed PC generally follows the unmanaged path; a device managed by an administrator should be added and installed through that organization’s console workflow.
Check Windows compatibility first
AVG’s current business requirements list Windows 11 x64 and Windows 10 Pro, Education, and Enterprise in x64 or x86 for the local client, along with supported Windows Server versions. Confirm the live AVG Business system requirements for the intended device role before downloading. Endpoint-client requirements do not automatically qualify a PC to host a management console.

The On-Premise Console host has separate Windows and hardware requirements. Check the On-Premise Console requirements if this PC will run the console rather than only the antivirus endpoint.

Install AVG Business Antivirus without a console
- Get the business installer. Use AVG’s official business installation channel and the installer for your product and subscription. Do not substitute a consumer AVG installer.
- Choose online or offline setup. The online installer downloads required files during installation, so use it when the PC has suitable internet access. Use the offline installer for a limited, slow, or isolated network.
- Run setup. Copy the installer to a location the PC can access, open it, and allow requested system changes if Windows prompts you.
- Select the installation type. Choose the default installation or select Customize to pick protection components. AVG documents Recommended, Minimal, and Custom protection choices.
- Install and restart if prompted. Select Install and wait for setup to finish. Restart the PC if the installer requests it.
- Activate your subscription. Follow AVG’s subscription activation instructions after installation.
Install a Cloud Console-managed endpoint
Use this path when the PC needs to appear in and receive configuration from AVG Business Cloud Console. AVG’s Cloud Console quick start covers subscription activation, adding devices, assigning policies and subscriptions, and installing antivirus services.
- Set up the Cloud Console and subscription, then add the endpoint using the console workflow.
- Send or download the installer to the target PC.
- Open the installer and allow it to make changes if Windows asks.
- Select Install now and wait for setup to complete.
- Select Close when the installer reports completion.
- Allow included services to finish deploying, then confirm AVG services or tasks have started. The device is populated in the console after setup and activation complete.
Closing the setup window does not necessarily mean every included service has finished deploying; some work continues in the background.

Deploy through an On-Premise Console
AVG documents Windows EXE installers for workstations and servers, and MSI installers for Group Policy deployment. Choose the installer type that matches the organization’s deployment method in the On-Premise device-add workflow.

Remote deployment has additional prerequisites, including a Master Agent, suitable network access, and domain credentials. Check AVG’s current system requirements and firewall guidance before attempting to push installation remotely. If you only need a local installation, follow the on-premise console’s applicable installer instructions rather than assuming the Cloud Console workflow applies.

Keep legacy AVG Network Edition instructions separate
An older AVG Network Edition user manual describes a Remote Administration architecture involving AVG Admin Server, AVG Data Center, AVG Admin Console, license entry, and a deployment wizard. Those screens and deployment steps belong to that legacy product/version, not the current Business Antivirus console setup. Use that manual only if you are specifically installing the older Network Edition.
Quick Recap
Troubleshoot common installation mistakes
- The installer does not match the management setup: determine whether the endpoint is unmanaged, Cloud Console-managed, or On-Premise Console-managed before starting.
- Setup cannot download files: use the offline installer when the PC’s network is isolated or too limited for online setup.
- The PC is not supported: check the requirements for the exact role—endpoint, server, or console host—rather than relying on a general Windows compatibility assumption.
- The managed device has not appeared yet: on Cloud Console, allow setup and service activation to complete; included services may still be deploying after the installer closes.
- The instructions show unfamiliar Admin Server or deployment-wizard screens: verify that you are following guidance for the legacy Network Edition rather than current Business Antivirus.
