You can use Claude or ChatGPT to help create newsletter content and beehiiv to publish and monetize it—but neither AI assistant guarantees better writing or income. The practical choice is the assistant that performs best on your own briefs and needs the least editing; beehiiv provides separate publishing and monetization tools, some of which depend on your plan.

How Claude, ChatGPT, and beehiiv fit together

Claude and ChatGPT are AI assistants you can use at stages such as brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and revising. beehiiv is the newsletter platform: it provides publishing tools and, depending on plan and eligibility, options for earning revenue. Treat these as distinct parts of a workflow, not as one combined product.

An assistant can help prepare a draft, but you remain responsible for checking facts, making the writing sound like you, and deciding what to send. Do not assume an assistant can publish directly to your beehiiv account: verify current integrations and account permissions before relying on an automated connection.

Claude vs ChatGPT for newsletter content: run your own comparison

There is no established universal winner for newsletter writing in the available evidence. Instead of choosing from broad claims about model quality, compare both assistants on the same assignment and judge the work you would actually publish.

Use one controlled brief

Give each assistant the same audience profile, newsletter brief, source material, tone, target length, and requested format. Ask for the same deliverables—for example, an outline, a first draft, three subject-line options, and a revision against your notes. Use identical instructions and material so differences in the result are meaningful to your process.

Score what matters in your workflow

  • Accuracy: Does the draft represent your supplied sources correctly, without unsupported claims?
  • Voice match: Does it sound like your publication after a reasonable edit?
  • Editing burden: How much work does it take to make the piece accurate, clear, and ready to send?
  • Repeatability: Does the assistant produce reliably useful work across several issues, not just one favorable prompt?
  • Workflow friction: Do the features available on your chosen plan fit your drafting and revision process?

Keep notes on the prompts, results, and edits. Your conclusion is a result for your audience and workflow, not proof that one assistant is better for every newsletter creator.

A responsible newsletter content workflow

  1. Choose the reader and purpose. Define who the issue serves and what the reader should know or do after reading.
  2. Prepare a source pack. Collect the material the draft should rely on. Tell the assistant to distinguish supplied facts from assumptions and to flag gaps rather than fill them with guesses.
  3. Generate an outline before a full draft. Check that the proposed structure answers the reader’s question in a useful order. Correct it before asking for polished prose.
  4. Draft and revise. Use the assistant for a first pass, subject lines, or revisions, then compare the output with your sources and editorial standards.
  5. Review before publishing. Verify claims, links, names, and numbers; remove material that is inaccurate or does not belong in your voice. The final editorial decision stays with you.
  6. Publish and learn. Track audience response and conversions over time. Use what readers do—not the mere fact that AI helped draft an issue—to decide what to change.

How you can monetize a beehiiv newsletter

beehiiv lists paid subscriptions, paid recommendations, digital products, and an Ad Network among its monetization options. Its feature access varies by plan; check beehiiv’s current pricing and plan details and confirm eligibility before budgeting. The pricing and feature set can change, so do not rely on an old plan description.

Route How it can work What to weigh
Paid subscriptions Offer readers paid access to newsletter content or other subscription benefits. Whether readers value a recurring paid offer, the work needed to sustain it, and plan access.
Paid recommendations Earn through eligible recommendations, subject to the platform’s current terms and availability. Audience fit, eligibility, and whether recommendations preserve reader trust.
Digital products Sell a digital product to your audience through available platform features. Whether the product solves a real reader need, plus the work of creating and supporting it.
Ad Network Use beehiiv’s advertising network where available and eligible. Plan access, eligibility, and whether the ads fit your publication and its readers.
Direct sponsorships Arrange sponsorships independently with advertisers. Finding suitable sponsors, managing the relationship, and maintaining editorial trust.

beehiiv says publishers can use its Ad Network alongside paid subscriptions, Recommendations, and direct sponsorships arranged independently. Read the Ad Network details for current terms and availability. Having a monetization feature does not establish that a newsletter will earn money; revenue depends on the audience, offer, eligibility, and execution.

What the AI advertising policies do—and do not—tell you

Advertising in an AI assistant is separate from using that assistant to prepare newsletter content. Anthropic stated on February 4, 2026, “Claude will remain ad-free.” OpenAI’s Help Center says, “Ads do not influence ChatGPT’s answers,” and says a U.S. test began on February 9, 2026. OpenAI says ads may appear for Free and Go users in select regions and that the rollout may evolve. Check the current ChatGPT ads information for availability; these advertising policies do not establish which assistant writes better newsletter copy.

Check the terms for the service you actually use

Terms can differ by product, account type, and jurisdiction. OpenAI distinguishes its individual Terms of Use from its Services Agreement, which applies to APIs, ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, and other business or developer services; the Services Agreement does not apply to consumer or individual use unless specified. Anthropic says its consumer terms apply to Claude Free, Pro, and Max, while Commercial Terms services—including Claude for Work, Government, Education, and API use—are outside those consumer terms. Review the terms for your particular account and location rather than assuming one set of rules covers every use.

Set realistic expectations about income

Platform tools are ways to try monetization, not income forecasts. beehiiv’s Ad Network page displays a cumulative creator-earnings figure, but the page result provides no visible as-of date or methodology for that total. It should not be read as a typical creator outcome or as a prediction for a new newsletter. The available evidence does not establish a creator income distribution, conversion benchmark, or expected earnings from using Claude or ChatGPT with beehiiv.
