Vite+ brings several specialized web-development tools together behind a consistent vp command interface. It does not replace those tools with one opaque program: Vite handles development and application builds, Vitest runs tests, and other tools cover bundling, formatting, linting, library packaging, and task execution.

VoidZero describes Vite+ 1.0, announced September 28, 2026, as stable, free, open source under the MIT license, and framework-agnostic. Its announcement calls Vite+ a single entry point for web development—not a framework, package manager, or replacement for Vite.

What is actually inside Vite+?

Think of Vite+ as an integrated workflow around separate tools. You use vp commands to reach common development tasks, while the underlying tools retain distinct responsibilities. The current Vite+ announcement says one root vite.config.ts configures the workflows.

Here is the tool-to-command map described by VoidZero:

Tool What it does Vite+ command
Vite Runs the local development server and supports the application build workflow. vp dev, vp build
Vitest Runs tests. vp test
Rolldown Bundles production application builds. vp build
tsdown Builds and packages libraries. vp pack
Oxlint Finds suspicious or potentially problematic code patterns. vp check
Oxfmt Formats code to make its presentation consistent. vp check
Vite Task Runs tasks, understands monorepo task dependencies, and can reuse cached results. vp run

These associations describe the roles in Vite+’s workflow; they do not mean every command is simply another name for the tool beneath it. The command provides a unified way to invoke the workflow.

What does using Vite+ actually feel like?

The command names follow the work you want to do, from starting a project through development and checks to production output. The current official command list is:

Rank #2
HTML Developer Hardcover Journal, Black
  • A funny HTML Developer job title design for web page builders, markup specialists, email template developers, website coders and content publishers. Perfect for anyone who writes the markup by hand and picks exactly the right tag for the job every time.
  • A great design for a hardworking member of your site team which reads "Don't Panic I'm A Professional HTML Developer". When a page has to work on an ancient email reader and a new phone at once, they make both look right. Ideal gift for web coders.
  • Hardcover journal with 240 line-ruled pages (120 sheets)
  • Built-in elastic closure and ribbon bookmark
  • Includes an expandable inner storage pocket and a pen holder
Command Purpose
vp create Scaffolds a project.
vp install Installs dependencies using the project’s package manager.
vp dev Starts the development server.
vp check Formats, lints, and type-checks code.
vp test Runs tests.
vp build Creates production application builds.
vp pack Builds libraries and standalone binaries.
vp run Executes monorepo-aware tasks with caching.
vp env Manages Node.js versions.

In practical terms, a developer can use the same command family for the local server, code-quality checks, tests, and build tasks. A library author has vp pack for library work, while a monorepo can use vp run to express task relationships and reuse cached outputs when inputs have not changed. That caching is an intended workflow capability, not a guarantee of a particular speedup in any repository.

Why distinguish linting, formatting, building, and packaging?

Linting is not formatting

Linting asks whether code may contain a problem—for example, a suspicious pattern. Formatting applies consistent presentation rules. They are often grouped into a quality-check workflow, but they answer different questions; Vite+’s vp check brings formatting, linting, and type-checking together.

An application build is not a library package

vp build is the application production-build path, associated with Vite and Rolldown. vp pack is for building libraries and standalone binaries, with tsdown assigned to library packaging. The outputs and workflows differ, so the commands are not interchangeable.

A task runner is about relationships, not just command shortcuts

For a project with multiple packages or dependent tasks, vp run can model which tasks rely on others and cache results when inputs are unchanged. This is meant to organize repeatable work; it should not be read as a measured performance promise for a particular CI pipeline or codebase.

Should you care which tool is underneath?

Yes. A unified command interface reduces the need to remember and coordinate separate entry points, but knowing the underlying tool still helps when you choose integrations, diagnose a failure, or migrate an existing project. Vite+ connects tools; it does not make their differences irrelevant.

VoidZero says existing Vite plugins and package-manager choices can continue to be used. That does not establish that every plugin, lint rule, or project configuration will work without adjustment. Before adopting an integrated workflow, evaluate the fit against your project’s current setup:

  • Is the project an application, a library, or a monorepo?
  • Which Vite and test-runner configuration, plugins, and lint rules does it already rely on?
  • How much migration work would the existing scripts and CI require?
  • Would task dependencies and caching address a real need in the repository?
  • Does the team prefer one integrated workflow or independently managed tools?
  • Do local measurements on representative build, check, and test tasks show a benefit for this project?

Those are evaluation questions, not evidence that one setup is universally better. A team that values separate control over each tool may prefer its existing composition; a team seeking a consistent entry point may value Vite+’s integration.

How should you read Vite+ performance claims?

VoidZero’s September 2026 Vite+ 1.0 announcement reports Oxlint as approximately 50× to 100× faster than ESLint and Oxfmt as up to 30× faster than Prettier. These are vendor-reported comparisons, not independently verified results for every project. The wording matters: the Oxfmt figure is “up to,” and neither claim guarantees the same outcome on a reader’s codebase.

A March 2026 alpha announcement from VoidZero also reported production builds with Vite and Rolldown as approximately 1.6× to 7.7× faster than Vite 7. That is a vendor comparison against the stated Vite 7 baseline; the available claim does not establish an independent benchmark or enough methodology to generalize the range to all applications. For an adoption decision, measure your own representative workflows.

What does Vite+ replace—and what does it not?

VoidZero’s September 28, 2026 announcement says Vite+ is neither a framework nor a package manager and is not a replacement for Vite. Instead, it presents Vite+ as one entry point for a workflow that includes Vite, testing, code checks, builds, packaging, task execution, and Node.js version management. The announcement describes the release as stable and MIT-licensed; those statements are VoidZero’s current product positioning.

For a closer look at the chapter’s examples and its original explanation, see Othmane Nemli’s “Vite+ — Chapter 2: What’s Inside Vite+?” on DEV Community. For current status and command definitions, refer to VoidZero’s Vite+ 1.0 announcement.
