Connect the PS4’s HDMI OUT port to an available HDMI input on your LG TV, power on both devices, then select that same HDMI input on the TV. A standard HDMI connection is all you need to display the console; HDR and LG gaming features are optional settings.
Connect the PS4 to your LG TV
- Turn off the PS4 and TV before connecting the cable.
- Plug one end of an HDMI cable into the PS4 port marked HDMI OUT. Connect the other end to an available HDMI input on the LG TV. PlayStation’s PS4 setup instructions identify the console’s HDMI OUT port; LG’s TV connection guide describes connecting a game console to an available TV input.
- Connect the PS4’s power cable to the console and a suitable power outlet.
- Turn on the TV and PS4. On the LG remote, press the input or external-input control and select the HDMI port you used. For example, if the cable is in HDMI 2, choose HDMI 2 as the source.
- If your TV lets you label inputs, you can name the selected HDMI input “PS4” to find it more easily later. The label controls vary by LG model.
The HDMI cable carries the console’s picture and sound. You do not need to connect the PS4 to the internet just to see its picture on the TV.
If the TV shows no picture
Check the basic connection before changing settings:

- Make sure the HDMI cable is firmly seated at both the PS4 and TV ends.
- Confirm that the PS4 is powered on.
- Check that the TV source matches the exact HDMI input used by the console.
If there is still no picture, consult PlayStation support and the support page or manual for your exact LG TV model. Hardware revisions and TV menus differ, so a single recovery sequence cannot be assumed to work for every setup.

Optional: Set up HDR
A picture over HDMI does not mean HDR is enabled. If your PS4 and LG TV support HDR, follow PlayStation’s HDR setup instructions: use an HDMI input on the TV that supports HDR, enable the TV’s HDR-related HDMI setting, and connect the PS4 directly to the TV with a Premium HDMI cable. PlayStation says HDR requires a direct connection; the signal should not pass through a receiver or switch box.
On the PS4, open Settings > Sound and Screen > Video Output Settings and set HDR and Deep Color to Automatic. LG may call the relevant TV option HDMI Deep Color, but its name, menu location, and supported ports vary by model. Check your TV’s manual if you cannot find it. A Premium HDMI cable is relevant to this HDR setup; it is not a separate requirement for every ordinary PS4 connection.

Optional: Enable LG gaming features
Game Optimizer or Game Mode
Some LG TVs offer Game Optimizer or a Game Optimization Mode. These features are not required to display the PS4 picture. Menu locations and availability vary by model and webOS generation. For example, LG documents a path through All Settings > General > Game Optimizer for a 2021 webOS 6.0 model; other TVs may use a different path or not support the feature. See LG’s guidance for entering game mode and turning on Game Optimizer for model-dependent details.

Simplink is LG’s name for HDMI-CEC, which can allow connected devices to control functions such as power. It is optional and does not establish the basic video connection. LG lists different menu paths by webOS version in its HDMI-CEC instructions.
