If Contact Form 7 (CF7) submissions are not appearing as leads in Odoo, first check whether the WordPress form submission succeeds, then verify the separate integration that sends its data to Odoo. Installing Odoo CRM does not connect a WordPress form automatically. Odoo’s native website contact form and a WordPress CF7 form are different routes: CF7 needs a connector, custom code, or middleware to pass submissions to Odoo.
First, confirm which contact-form setup you use
Odoo’s native website contact form can be configured to create CRM records. That feature applies to a form on an Odoo website; it does not establish a connection to a form hosted on WordPress.
If your site uses WordPress and CF7, identify the component responsible for sending each submission to Odoo. It might be a connector plugin, custom integration, or middleware. Without that handoff, CF7 can accept a submission while Odoo receives nothing.
| Check | Odoo Website contact form | WordPress CF7 form |
|---|---|---|
| Where the form is hosted | Odoo Website | WordPress |
| What sends the submission to CRM | Odoo’s website form configuration | A separate connector, custom code, or middleware |
| Where authentication is configured | Within the Odoo website and CRM setup | In the integration route that connects WordPress to Odoo |
| How the target record and fields are chosen | By the Odoo form and CRM configuration for that version | By the connector or integration’s model and field mappings |
| Where to investigate submission errors | Odoo’s relevant website and CRM behavior | The installed integration’s logs, in addition to CF7’s submission status |
| Best fit | A form hosted on an Odoo website | A form that must remain on a WordPress site |
Odoo’s version 13 documentation describes website forms that can create opportunities, but the behavior and settings may differ in other releases. See Odoo’s website-form documentation. For WordPress CF7, troubleshoot the integration described below rather than assuming the native Odoo form setting applies.

Follow this troubleshooting order
Check the stages in sequence. There are two separate outcomes: CF7 can complete a submission, and an integration can create the intended record in Odoo. Confirming the first does not prove the second succeeded.
1. Verify that CF7 completes the submission
Submit the form yourself and check its visible result. Resolve validation errors or a failed submission status before investigating Odoo. CF7’s official documentation index links to troubleshooting for configuration errors and AJAX behavior. Its documentation index does not provide connector-specific error codes.
If CF7 does not complete the submission, troubleshoot the form first. If it does, move on to the integration that should pass the data to Odoo.

2. Identify the integration route and check its connection
Find the connector, custom code, or middleware that connects WordPress to your Odoo instance. Check that it is active and configured for the site and form you are testing. Do not begin by adjusting field mappings if the integration cannot authenticate.
For one public CF7-to-Odoo connector, the README calls for an Odoo URL, database name, user email, and API key. It documents a connection-test button and says: “There is a test button for each connection row. Press this to make a test connection to check authentication before assuming the connection details are correct.” The quotation is from the Jack-Dane repository README. Use the equivalent test in your own integration, and confirm that its connection details match your Odoo instance.
That repository says its connector ideally targets Odoo 14 or later for API-key support and requires PHP 8.1 or greater. These are requirements stated for that connector, not universal requirements for every way to integrate CF7 with Odoo. Check the documentation for the connector and versions you actually use.

3. Confirm the destination model
Check whether the integration is configured to create a lead or a contact. The connector README uses crm.lead for leads and res.partner as an example for contacts. These are examples for that connector; do not assume every integration or deployment uses the same model configuration.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

If the form is creating a contact when you expect a lead, the data may be reaching Odoo but going to the wrong model. Inspect the integration’s model setting and then search the corresponding Odoo view for the test record.
4. Check the field mappings and submitted values
CF7 fields must be mapped to the intended Odoo fields through the integration. A visitor-facing label such as “Email” does not, on its own, confirm that the connector is reading the right CF7 field or writing to the expected Odoo field.

- Compare each mapping with the actual CF7 field name and the value submitted by the form.
- Check that mappings point to fields on the selected Odoo model.
- Confirm that any constant values configured in the connector are intentional.
- Inspect the created record, if one exists, to see whether values landed in different fields than expected.
The available connector documentation does not establish a complete required-field list that applies across Odoo versions and integrations. Use the requirements for your installed Odoo version and connector rather than guessing at a universal schema.
5. Read the integration’s error log
Check the connector’s own logs after reproducing the problem. The Jack-Dane connector documents an “Odoo Submit Errors” tab for failures that prevented a form from submitting to Odoo. Other integrations may use a different log location or name; consult the installed integration’s documentation and inspect its equivalent error log.

Do not treat a successful CF7 status as proof that Odoo accepted the record.
6. Search the correct Odoo CRM view
After an integration reports success, look for the record in the view that matches the configured model and your CRM settings. Odoo’s version 13 website-form documentation says that submissions configured to create opportunities can generate CRM records. Newer guidance indicates that when the Leads setting is active, submissions are treated as leads; otherwise, they may be opportunities. Because behavior can vary by version and configuration, check the CRM settings and views for your own Odoo release rather than relying on a different version’s labels.
A record that is present as an opportunity or contact may be mistaken for a missing lead. Search the relevant CRM area and verify the record type before concluding that no record was created.

A completed form submission does not show whether the integration attempted to send data or whether Odoo accepted it. Use the integration’s connection test and error log, then verify the selected model and field mappings. If those checks show no failure, search the appropriate CRM view and check the settings for your Odoo version.

When to get implementation help
If the form submits, the connection test fails, or the integration’s logs point to custom authentication or mapping work, an Odoo implementer or developer may be able to inspect the route end to end. Share the CF7 field names, the integration’s model and field configuration, the error message, and the Odoo version. Do not share API keys or other credentials in support requests.
