The HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e is a capable document-focused color inkjet all-in-one for a home or small office: it prints, copies, scans, and faxes, with automatic duplex printing, a 35-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), and a 250-sheet input tray. Independent testing reports sharp documents and useful connectivity, but weaker photo detail and crooked ADF scans. There is also a purchase caveat: HP’s US shop currently labels the model discontinued, although retailer stock may remain.
What the 9125e offers for everyday office work
HP positions the 9125e for home and small-business use. Its all-in-one functions cover print, copy, scan, and fax, while wired Ethernet and wireless connectivity provide options for connecting it to a network. HP also advertises support through its app.
- Paper handling: a 250-sheet input tray and 35-sheet ADF, according to HP.
- Two-sided work: automatic duplex printing and scanning are listed by HP.
- Recommended workload: HP recommends up to 1,500 pages per month. Its separate 25,000-page monthly duty-cycle figure is a maximum robustness comparison, not a recommended routine workload.
HP rates the printer at up to 22 pages per minute (ppm) in black and 18 ppm in color in ISO-comparable mode. HP also lists up to 32 ppm in general-office mode. These are manufacturer-rated figures, not independent test results; actual speed depends on the print mode, connection, and document.
How print and scan quality hold up
RTINGS’ review, initially dated March 6, 2024 and updated on its test bench September 25, 2026, identifies the 9125e as the US-region member of the 9120e family. RTINGS reports sharp document output and high page yield as strengths, but says photos can look grainy and lose fine detail, with a limited color range. That makes the printer a better fit for routine office documents than for photo printing where detail and color fidelity matter.

RTINGS also reports that the ADF can produce crooked scans. If scans of multipage paperwork need consistently straight alignment, that drawback matters more than the convenience of feeding several pages at once. For black text, RTINGS found printing faster over USB than over wireless; color printing was slower in its testing. Those observations are test-specific rather than a guarantee of the speed every user will see.
Ink cartridges, regional differences, and restrictions
For the US model, HP lists four HP 936 cartridges: black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. HP gives approximate yields of 1,250 pages for black and 800 pages for each color cartridge; actual yield varies with printed content and use. RTINGS reports roughly 1,400 black-and-white pages and about half as many color pages in its page-yield discussion. That is a reviewer-reported result, not an HP guarantee.

Do not assume the US cartridge number applies worldwide: HP’s UK product listing refers to the 937 cartridge family. Check the printer’s region and packaging, and confirm cartridge compatibility before ordering. HP also lists 936e EvoMore options; availability should be checked at purchase.

This is an important ownership limitation if you expect to use cartridges without an HP chip.

HP+ is optional during setup. If activated, HP says it requires an HP account, an ongoing internet connection, and exclusive use of Original HP Ink for the printer’s lifetime. The 9125e is also listed as Instant Ink eligible, but plan prices, offers, and terms can change; check the current terms rather than assuming a particular cost or saving.

RTINGS’ comparisons can help frame alternatives, but they are its judgments rather than universal rankings. It describes the OfficeJet Pro 9015e as faster and better at photo detail; the 8135e as lacking the same duplex scanning while avoiding the cited crooked-scan issue; and the Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5850 as faster, better in its comparison, and equipped with a 550-sheet tray. Check each model’s current availability and specifications before choosing.

Availability and what to verify before buying
HP’s US shop currently labels the 9125e “Discontinued.” That describes HP’s listing, not whether every retailer has run out of units. Remaining listings may be new old stock, used, or refurbished, and live stock and product condition have not been verified here. Before paying, confirm the exact model and condition, the seller’s warranty coverage, and the return policy. No current price is quoted because availability and seller terms can change.
