The Battle.net Tools folder contains the Battle.net Agent, a helper used for installing and patching games. Blizzard’s available instructions do not establish a current, exact full path for this folder. On Windows, you can use Blizzard’s Start-menu “Open File Location” directions to locate the app installation folder, but do not assume that the separate Tools folder is in that same location.
What is the Battle.net Tools folder?
The Tools folder holds files for the Battle.net Agent, which helps the desktop app install and patch games. Blizzard support guidance describes deleting the folder as a way to make Battle.net download fresh Agent files when the app launches again. This can help if those helper files are outdated, damaged, or causing trouble, but it is not a guaranteed fix.
Where is the Battle.net Tools folder?
The available Blizzard instructions do not give a verified full path for the Tools folder. They describe a Windows route to the Battle.net app’s installation folder, not a confirmed route to Tools. The distinction matters: the app folder and the Tools folder are separate cleanup targets, and their locations should not be treated as interchangeable.

Use Blizzard’s Windows directions to locate the app folder
- Close the Battle.net desktop app.
- Open the Windows Start menu and find Battle.net.
- Right-click the app and select Open File Location.
- In the File Explorer window, move up one folder to reach the app installation folder described in Blizzard’s manual-uninstall guidance.
Those steps help locate the app installation folder. They do not, by themselves, confirm the location of Battle.net Tools. Blizzard’s support guidance separately names the Tools folder for removing remaining helper programs. Before deleting anything, confirm that you have the intended folder and follow Blizzard’s current instructions for your installation.

What about macOS?
The available navigation instructions are Windows-specific and do not establish a macOS Tools-folder location or equivalent route. Avoid applying the Windows steps to a Mac or relying on an unverified Mac path; check Blizzard’s current support documentation for platform-specific directions.
How do I delete the Battle.net Tools folder?
- Close Battle.net before cleanup.
- Use Blizzard’s current troubleshooting instructions to identify the Tools folder; do not substitute the app installation folder or a cache folder.
- Delete the Tools folder only if you are following that troubleshooting step.
- Launch Battle.net again. The app should prompt a fresh download of Agent files.
Deleting Tools is intended to rebuild the Agent helper files, not to guarantee that every launch, login, installation, or update problem will be resolved. If the problem remains, use Blizzard’s troubleshooting guidance for the specific error rather than repeatedly deleting the folder.

Tools, app installation, and cache folders are not the same

When the folder cleanup does not fix the problem
The Agent rebuild is one troubleshooting step, not a universal repair for Battle.net failures. If the app still cannot launch, log in, install, or update after the Agent files are downloaded again, follow Blizzard’s instructions for the specific symptom or contact Blizzard support. A reported Agent/login issue persisted despite attempted troubleshooting, illustrating why the folder reset should not be treated as a certain fix.
