To stop friend requests from everyone in MTG Arena, open Options > Account and enable Block Incoming Friend Requests. That path comes from the game’s historical 1.03 patch notes, reproduced in a community archive; current official guidance confirms a separate way to block an individual player, but does not verify whether the global toggle is still in the same place.
Turn off incoming requests for everyone
-
Open MTG Arena and select Options.
-
Open the Account tab or section.
-
Check Block Incoming Friend Requests.
The exact path and checkbox wording are documented in a community archive reproducing Arena’s historical 1.03 patch notes: Options > Account > Block Incoming Friend Requests. Because this is a 2019-era reference rather than current official confirmation, the setting may have moved or changed. If you cannot find it, check that the client is updated and inspect the current Account options.
Block one player instead
For someone already listed in your friends list, use the individual Block action in the social blade. Wizards’ August 2026 guidance says to right-click the friend on desktop or long-press the friend on mobile, then choose Block. The action appears alongside Unfriend in the friends-list menu. This is a per-player control, not a filter for all incoming requests. See Wizards’ MTG Arena social-features announcement.

How the available social controls differ
| Control | Scope | Where to find it | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Block Incoming Friend Requests | All incoming requests | Historically, Options > Account | Disables incoming friend requests; the current location and label are not verified by current official guidance. |
| Block | One listed friend | Social blade friends list: right-click on desktop or long-press on mobile | Blocks that individual player. |
| Offline | Your social presence | Social status controls | Wizards’ March 2020 description says Offline signs you out of social features, stops messages from being sent or received, and hides which friends are online. It does not identify Offline as a friend-request filter. |
| Busy | Notifications and messaging | Social status controls | Suppresses notifications while still allowing messages to be sent and received; it is not documented as a request filter. |
The Offline and Busy descriptions are from Wizards’ March 2020 friends-list announcement. Neither status is established there as a way to stop friend requests.

When to report a player
Blocking is a social control; reporting is for misconduct. Wizards’ August 2026 announcement says reports can be submitted from Options, a Challenge Lobby, or a friend’s list menu. It lists inactivity, hate speech, inappropriate username, verbal abuse, and spamming as report reasons, and says each report is evaluated by a person: “No reports will be actioned on automatically. Every one will be evaluated and actioned on by a person.” See the announcement and its social-features FAQ.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do not confuse Challenge Lobby access with request blocking
Challenge Lobbies are separate: the host controls who can enter a lobby, but Wizards’ description does not say lobby access controls incoming friend requests. Lobby access is not a substitute for the Account setting or the individual Block action. See Wizards’ social-features announcement.
