The Sony INZONE H6 Air is a wired, open-back gaming headset for players who want a light design and Sony’s stated natural-soundstage approach—and who do not need wireless freedom or strong isolation. It connects through a 3.5 mm jack or the included USB-C Audio Box. Sony lists a U.S. price of $199.99, though that displayed price can change.
What the INZONE H6 Air is—and what this review can establish
The INZONE H6 Air, model MDR-G600 (U.S. model MDR-G600/B), is a wired open-back headset. Sony’s product pages describe its construction, connections, weight, microphone, and software-dependent features. Those specifications are useful for judging whether it fits a setup, but they do not establish how it sounds in an independent listening test.
Sony says the open-back acoustic structure reduces reflected sound inside the headphones to create a natural soundstage. That is the manufacturer’s design rationale, not a measured result. The available product information does not establish sound leakage, isolation, frequency response, microphone recording quality, long-session comfort, or durability. Sony’s U.S. product page and its regional feature page provide the product claims and specifications.

Sony lists the headset at approximately 199 g without the detachable microphone and describes an adjustable headband. The weight figure is useful, but it should not be read as the weight with the boom mic attached. The product information does not establish how comfortable the headset will feel across different head shapes or during extended sessions.

Sony says the driver design is inspired by its MDR-MV1 open-back studio-monitor headphones. That describes design context; it does not establish that the headsets share identical parts or performance.
Open-back construction: the room matters
Open-back construction is the defining choice here. Sony’s stated aim is to reduce internal reflections for a natural soundstage. In practical terms, consider whether your gaming space is quiet and whether nearby people would mind hearing some sound from your headphones. The available evidence does not quantify how much sound escapes or how much outside noise reaches the listener, so those should be checked in the intended room rather than assumed from Sony’s design description.

Connections and compatibility

Spatial audio, EQ, and microphone
USB-C Audio Box features
Sony associates 360 Spatial Sound for Gaming and an RPG/Adventure EQ profile with use of the supplied USB-C Audio Box. Sony says the EQ was developed with sound designers from PlayStation Studios / Sony Interactive Entertainment. These are feature descriptions and collaboration claims from Sony, not independent evaluations of their effect in games.
Detachable boom microphone
The boom microphone detaches. Sony describes it as a cardioid microphone angled toward the mouth to focus on voice and reduce side noise. That is Sony’s description of its design; the available information does not include a recording comparison or measured voice-quality result.

Price, software, and support
Sony’s U.S. product page displayed a price of $199.99 when checked on October 7, 2026. Treat it as a time-sensitive U.S. listing, not a guaranteed current price or a price for every region.
Sony Support listed INZONE Hub version 1.0.19.0, released April 15, 2026, and a Help Guide dated June 2, 2026. Software and support materials can be updated; check the MDR-G600 support page for current downloads and documentation.

Who should consider the H6 Air?
- Consider it if you want a wired headset, prefer an open-back design, and can use the 3.5 mm connection or included USB-C Audio Box.
- Look elsewhere if you need wireless play, or if your room makes sound leakage or outside-noise isolation a deciding factor and you cannot try the headset first.
- Check your setup first if you want Sony’s USB-C Audio Box features or Windows INZONE Hub customization; those features have specific hardware or platform dependencies.
Verdict
The INZONE H6 Air is best judged as a wired open-back option, not an all-purpose wireless headset. Sony’s specifications establish its lightweight listed build, detachable boom mic, connection options, and feature dependencies. They do not establish independent sound, mic, comfort, or isolation performance. Its appeal therefore depends on whether the open-back approach and wired setup suit your room and priorities.
