The Dirt Devil Bandit DDBBC is a bagged cylinder vacuum that is listed as discontinued. Its basic specifications are documented, but publicly visible review pages do not show enough independent test results to support a cleaning-performance verdict. If you are considering a used unit, check its condition and accessories—and confirm that replacement bags are still available before you buy.
What is the Dirt Devil Bandit DDBBC?
The DDBBC is a corded, bagged barrel (cylinder) vacuum. Its user guide describes variable power, a bag-full indicator, a combination floor tool, telescopic wand, hose, and a 3-in-1 tool for crevices, dusting and upholstery. It also specifies pre-motor and post-motor filters. CHOICE lists the model as discontinued, so prospective buyers should treat it as a used-market appliance rather than a current new-model recommendation.
Dirt Devil Bandit DDBBC specifications
The manual and CHOICE give different figures for dust capacity, weight and reach. These are not interchangeable measurements: the manual lists manufacturer specifications, while CHOICE reports measured values for some categories.

|---|---|---|
| Power | 1800 W | 1800 W stated; 1420 W measured |
| Dust capacity | 2 L | 1.5 L measured dust-collector volume |
| Weight | 3.9 kg | 5.3 kg |
| Reach or cord length | 6 m cord | 8.8 m reach from the power point |
| Electrical rating | 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz | not stated (CHOICE) |
| Dust collection | Bag | Bag |
The cord length and reach figures describe different things: reach from a power point can include the cord and the vacuum’s hose and wand. The available listings do not explain the cause of the weight or capacity differences, so check which measurement matters to you rather than assuming one source is a typo.

What do the review pages say about cleaning performance?
CHOICE’s public page does not reveal the expert rating or detailed scores for cleaning performance, carpet cleaning, ease of use, pet hair, corners and edges, or noise; those details are behind member access. Consumer NZ also gates its model test scores. The accessible information therefore does not establish whether the DDBBC cleans well on a particular floor type or how it compares with alternatives.
CHOICE lists a price of $90 and Consumer NZ lists $100, but these are page-listed figures, not verified current offers. Consumer NZ’s model entry was last updated 05/04/2018; its broader corded-vacuum guide was updated in July 2025. Neither listed figure should be treated as a current price for a discontinued vacuum.

Replacement bags and routine maintenance
The DDBBC needs a dust bag. The manual warns, “To avoid damage to the vacuum cleaner, never use the appliance without having inserted a dust bag.” It instructs users to switch off and unplug the vacuum before changing the bag, replace it when the bag-full indicator appears, change it at least every three months, and fit a fresh bag before long-term storage.

Cleanstar lists paper and cloth bags for the Dirt Devil DDBC1400/DDBBC. Statewide Appliance Spares lists a DDBBCB five-pack, but marks it no longer available and says there is no supplier alternative. These are compatibility and stock listings, not a guarantee of current supply. Before ordering, confirm that the listing explicitly covers DDBBC, check the bag type and fit with the seller, and verify that it is in stock.

What to check before buying a used DDBBC
With a discontinued vacuum, the practical question is not only whether a particular unit runs, but whether it is complete and can continue to be maintained.
Rank #4
- 6 bags per pkg.
- Filter Paper Bag
- Genuine Dirt Devil Type G Bag
- Bag supply: Check current availability and ongoing cost for bags explicitly listed as compatible with DDBBC.
- Condition and serviceability: Ask to see the vacuum operating and inspect the hose, wand, floor tool, controls, cord and bag compartment. The available review information does not establish current repair-part availability.
- Included tools: CHOICE lists a telescopic wand, hose, carpet/hard-floor tool, crevice tool, upholstery tool, dusting brush, spare dust bag and four A76/LR44 button batteries among the supplied items. Confirm what is actually included with the used unit; the listing does not prove every second-hand example retains those items.
- Handling: Consider the listed 5.3 kg CHOICE weight and 8.8 m reach alongside the manual’s 3.9 kg and 6 m cord figures. If weight or room-to-room reach is decisive, check the specific unit rather than relying on one published figure.
- Performance evidence: Do not treat the hidden test scores as a public endorsement. If cleaning ability is the deciding factor, look for accessible evidence for the floor types and tasks you care about, or assess the unit in person.
Should you buy the Dirt Devil Bandit DDBBC?
The DDBBC may suit someone who finds a complete, working used unit and can verify a dependable supply of correctly fitting bags. It is a less certain choice if you need a new vacuum, predictable replacement-part access, or independently verifiable cleaning results before purchase. Decide based on the individual unit’s condition, included tools and consumable availability—not on an unsupported performance rating.
