PayoutDelta is a browser-based tool and open dataset that estimates how much of a cross-border invoice may reach a freelancer’s or agency’s local bank account after platform fees, payout charges, intermediary deductions, and currency conversion. Its figures are benchmarks drawn from public rate cards—not live quotes or guaranteed receipt amounts—so use them to compare routes, then confirm the actual fees and exchange rate with the provider.
What PayoutDelta is
PayoutDelta is a project for estimating the net amount that may land in a local account after a cross-border payout. It combines a browser calculator with machine-readable fee data. Ahmad Bilal’s DEV Community article describes the site as a Next.js 15 static export hosted on GitHub Pages; the project’s About page says calculations run in the browser against a static data bundle. The developer hub documents a static JSON feed and example fields including base and target currencies, a reference rate, an intermediary USD amount, a SWIFT/BIC, and a purpose code. DEV Community, PayoutDelta developer hub, PayoutDelta About page.
The project is useful as a structured benchmark and comparison aid, not as an authoritative fee quote engine. Its documentation says figures are informational aggregates compiled from public rate cards. It also cautions that the actual intermediary deduction appears on the beneficiary bank’s credit advice. A provider’s current terms, the receiving bank, and the specific payment route can produce a different result.

PayoutDelta’s developer hub reports a dataset revision dated 2026-09-27 containing 208 corridors, three platforms, and five rails. Its About page describes a versioned snapshot covering USD, EUR, and GBP origins, three client platforms, and five withdrawal channels. The pages use slightly different labels—“rails” and “withdrawal channels”—so treat these as the project’s published coverage descriptions, rather than assuming every combination is available for every corridor. Coverage counts show the breadth of the snapshot, not the depth or certainty of every individual estimate. Before relying on a result, check the corridor, currency pair, chosen platform and rail, and the dataset revision. A modeled figure for one route should not be generalized to other countries, banks, currencies, or transfer sizes.
How to use the estimates
- Set the route and transfer assumptions. Select the relevant origin and destination currencies, platform, payout channel, and amount in the browser tool. The amount matters because fixed charges and percentage-based fees affect net proceeds differently.
- Compare the net landed amount and its components. PayoutDelta frames comparisons around net landed amount, friction, and intermediary deductions. Review the estimated total cost alongside the FX spread, fixed payout fee, and any modeled intermediary deduction instead of choosing solely by the headline exchange rate. PayoutDelta comparison page.
- Check the data context. Note the corridor and the snapshot revision behind the result. Treat the displayed rate and deductions as indicative assumptions compiled from public rate cards, not a current provider offer.
- Verify before sending money. Ask the platform or payout provider for the applicable fee and exchange rate for your payment, and check with the receiving bank about possible intermediary or incoming-wire charges. The amount actually credited may differ; the project points readers to the beneficiary bank’s credit advice for the actual intermediary deduction.
Which services and payout routes it compares
The invoice tool lists estimated fees for Direct SWIFT Wire, Local Bank Transfer, Wise, Payoneer, and Remitly. PayoutDelta’s comparison pages also include Wise and Payoneer, and its challenger-rail and agency material includes Airwallex. These are examples in the project’s comparisons, not endorsements or independently tested recommendations. Their inclusion does not establish a commercial relationship or an affiliate arrangement. Date-math for listings and contracts too. Comes with a protective slide cover, quick reference guide, pocket User's Guide, and long-life batteries
For a meaningful comparison, keep the transfer amount and corridor consistent, then compare net proceeds, intermediary deductions, FX spread, fixed charges, route coverage, and settlement rail. A route with a lower visible fee may still deliver less if its exchange-rate spread or intermediary costs are higher. The tool’s output can help identify what to ask about; only the provider can confirm the terms for a particular transaction.

The project’s About page says calculations run in the browser against a static bundle, but it also identifies third-party fonts and an ad placeholder as network touchpoints. Client-side calculations therefore do not, by themselves, establish that the site makes no third-party network connections. PayoutDelta About page.
What is planned rather than available
PayoutDelta’s About page lists invoice PDF export, rate-drop email alerts, embeddable agency widgets, and a scheduled crawler as roadmap items. The page presents these as planned features, not capabilities readers should assume are currently shipped. PayoutDelta About page.
How to interpret PayoutDelta’s wider cost claims
The DEV Community article says international software engineers and remote agencies frequently lose 3.5%–8.2% of gross revenue to correspondent banking hops and retail FX markups. That range is attributable to the article; PayoutDelta’s project documentation does not independently establish it as a general statistic for freelancers or cross-border payments. Actual costs depend on the corridor, provider, banks, amount, and exchange rate, so the range should not be treated as a forecast for an individual invoice.
