To remove lock-screen ads from an ad-supported Fire tablet, sign in to the Amazon account linked to the device and use Manage Your Devices to remove its Special Offers. Amazon charges a one-time fee and shows the amount for that device before you confirm. Free settings can filter certain lock-screen content or hide Home screen recommendations, but they do not remove the lock-screen ads.
Remove lock-screen ads through your Amazon account
Amazon’s documented removal route is to unsubscribe from Special Offers for the selected tablet. The fee is device-specific; check the amount shown in the removal flow rather than relying on a universal price.
- Sign in to the Amazon account associated with the tablet and open Manage Your Devices.
- Select Devices, then choose the relevant Fire tablet.
- Under Special Offers, select Remove offers. Review the price displayed for that device.
- To proceed, select End Offers and Pay the Fee. Amazon describes this as a one-time payment.
Amazon says ad-supported models may be sold at a subsidized price, and removing ads covers the difference between the ad-supported and no-ad device price. The amount shown can vary by device or account; the cited guidance does not establish a single fee for all tablets.

Fire tablet ads and recommendations can appear in different places. Amazon says Special Offers appear on the lock screen; sponsored content tiles may also appear in the Home screen Continue and Discover row. The free controls below affect content filtering or recommendations, not the paid Special Offers status.
Filter mature or adult lock-screen content
On supported menus, go to Settings > Apps and Notifications > Amazon App Settings > Special Offers > Content Filtering. This filters mature or adult content; it does not turn off the lock-screen ad feature.

Hide Home screen recommendations
Go to Settings > Apps and Notifications > Amazon App Settings > Home Screens, then turn off Recommendations and Continue and Discover Row. This changes Home screen recommendations, not lock-screen Special Offers.
Dismiss an individual Discover recommendation
Long-press the recommendation and select Not Interested. This dismisses that recommendation; it does not unsubscribe the tablet from lock-screen ads.

Personalization and usage-data settings are not ad removal
Amazon documents separate controls for limiting interest-based ads and for opting out of processing device usage data for marketing and product improvement. These settings change personalization or data processing, not the underlying Special Offers placement. Amazon specifically says opting out of device usage data processing does not affect Special Offers on a device purchased with Special Offers. Where Fire tablet ads appear
Amazon’s customer-service guidance says, “On Fire tablet, ads display on the lock screen.” Sponsored content tiles may also appear in the Home screen Continue and Discover row. Because those are distinct placements, removing Home screen recommendations does not itself remove lock-screen Special Offers. See Amazon’s explanation of ads on Kindle and Fire tablets.
